A bill to legalize adult prostitution in Vermont was recently introduced by female lawmakers in the states legislature.
The bills text read:
This bill proposes to repeal the prostitution laws while retaining felony human trafficking laws that prohibit recruiting, enticing, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a minor for the purpose of commercial sex; patronizing a minor for commercial sex; recruiting, enticing, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining any person through force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of having the person engage in commercial sex; compelling any person through force, fraud, or coercion to engage in commercial sex; and patronizing any person for a commercial sex act who is being compelled through force, fraud, or coercion to engage in a commercial sex.
One of the bills sponsors, Rep. Selene Colburn who is a Burlington Progressive, said she believed decriminalizing so-called sex work would offer prostitutes more safety and improve their health.
Colburn also stated that if prostitution were not considered illegal in the state, charges would not be brought against the sex worker or the buyer, the VTDigger reported.

Virginia and my state will follow suit.
Yeh....like the pimps are going to pay taxes.....
You can’t stop it, best you can do is license and tax it. Get the useless policing out of it. Besides, what is the different for going online to one of the dating sites, taking a date out for wine and dine, taking the date home and having sex, date says thanks for the night, see ya.
If It is not legal, there should be a policeman in every bedroom to enforce the law.

The state sees $$$ in terms of licensing and registration fees (in the interests of public health, of course) as well as income taxes they currently aren’t getting a cut of.
So your plan is to set up a two tiered system.
And that would help Johns only.
That old book Future Shock would have deleted things like this. Too silly.
Why not a Golden Calf celebration to replace Christmas? Lots of sponsors could be pressured into backing the TV coverage.
Sorry I brought that up. Some guy at a desk in a New York City high rise is probably on the phone setting that up now.
When it becomes legal then the men will start complaining about making 66 cents to their dollar.
Socialism and socialists allow prostitution? /s
Just wait for the taxes they will put on it. Will still be cheaper to find your local girl or guy who charges no taxes like the weed tax in Chicago.
Their money will be sent offshore except for a few thousand a week of walking around Benjamins. But the gas tax on their pimpmobile rides back and forth from their cribs will bring in some revenue.
A nearby state, Rhode Island, recently made prostitution ILLEGAL. It WAS legal for the indoors (hotels, strip clubs, etc.)
It was a draw for crime, human trafficking, gangs, and lots of bad elements.
Socialist state Vermont needs to look 100 miles to its southeast to learn from liberal state Rhode Island. Vermont presently has a very clean and enviable tourist draw: scenery, arts, food, festivals. That image goes away quickly with just a few poorly placed road advertisements letting the minivan full of kids that good boob can be found at the next exit
Some say the Nevada model of legal prostitution works well. Among other things, there are licensing and health requirements, including mandatory condom use.
Prostitution in some form has been around since the dawn of time. The question really is, in my opinion, how do we regulate it, enforce laws or regulations dealing with this activity.
I hope the homosexuals get in on it then.....
If you go the date route that would be a lot cheaper in the long run.
They want to be the first sanctuary state for pimps/human traffickers. Think of the job growth they could experience!
Once this has developed and been regulated, expect business travel, tourism and travel in general to explode in Vermont.
Nevada brothel franchises will invade.
