President Trump’s Senate trial may have witnesses after all.
Sen. Susan Collins on Friday confirmed she is working with a “fairly small group” of fellow Republican senators to ensure witnesses can be called.
“We should be completely open to calling witnesses,” Collins (R-Maine) said Friday, the Bangor Daily News reported.
“I am hopeful that we can reach an agreement on how to proceed with the trial that will allow the opportunity for both the House and the president’s counsel if they choose to do so.”
Mitt Romney (R-Utah) has also had recent conversations with the Senate’s minority Democratic leadership, one source familiar with the negotiations told The Post on Thursday.

The small group are simply advertising that they are now for sale. They want the promise of pork in payment for their loyalty.
I doubt they will gain much from their idiocy. This is not the time for the usual RINO porcine politics.

This is exactly correct. It’s all about CYA for the gang of 3.

True on some issues. But the fury of the base would be intense if they gave complete control of the process to the ‘rats. A few witnesses, after the basic trial has proceeded, wouldn’t be the end of the world. In fact, they might cement the fact that its a witch hunt for all to see.
Some of Schiff’s handpicked witnesses gave testimony that was so unhelpful to him that it was never released. I’m thinking particularly of ICIG Atkisson.
So, I think the Dems are hoping they can somehow find more mud to throw against the wall and that it might stick. Take Bolton for example. He might be butthurt that he got fired, but he got fired because he was to the warmonging side of Trump, not because he is a friend of the Democrats. The Dems are hoping he’ll be the big secret that blows Trump out of the water, but that’s likely a foolish hope.

Call as witnesses the so-called whistleblower Eric Ciaramella, Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, Adam Schiff, etc.
The poster is talking about Susan Collins, not Doug Collins of Georgia.
As far as I know, Collins was not offered the Georgia Senate seat by Gov. Kemp.
And will those witnesses include: Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, Adam Schiff, the IC Inspector General, and the “he who must not be named” Whistleblower? Or it will be like the House where only witnesses hostile to Trump are allowed?

That is a ridiculous statement. Every Republican in the House voted against impeachment and McConnell says he has the necessary votes in the Senate to stop impeachment. Do you really think the Senate Republicans are going to vote for Impeachmen?

Since the Democrat didn’t allow the GOP to call witnessed we should afford them the same “courtesy”.
Trump team needs to start circulating a list of about 37 names they want to call.... and mention that Rudy will be one of Trump’s official attorney’s and questioning each of these witnesses.
While people tout the “ small group of Republicans”, there is a larger group of Democrats that want nothing to do with impeachment. Funny those folks NEVER get mentioned in the lame stream media. The ONLY bipartisan supporters so far have been against impeachment.

No they will not impeach him...but they can drag it out and have his poll numbers drop so he loses in2020..and they will say we aquited him..
The Turtle can only lose five vote ..and the democrats get there way..

The more this drags on, the more the ugliness of Democrats is exposed. Trump is benefitting. There’s probably a floor of about 30 percent that is going to vote RAT, no matter what. They’re a lost cause but things are looking rosier for Trump each day. Those RATS running are all crazy. There’s not a sane one in the bunch. Any Republican that does not get on board with Trump does it at their own peril.

The only ‘at risk’ GOP Senators are those who do not support Trump.
