I have to give them some credit for coming clean on this, or at least getting out ahead of the inevitable truth. Unlike Democrats, of course, where they will continue to lie and deny even when undeniably factual evidence is thrust into their faces.
It was probably a trigger happy guy in their military, or bad orders (if you see something on this screen, shoot it down).
Our military paid out a lot of money when we made our mistake. I hope the Iranians still have some Obama Bucks left.
Many of the Russian systems they’ve purchased, especially the export versions, reportedly have an “automatic” setting, much like our CIWS does. This is intended for use when a significant portion of an enemy air force is coming at the S-300/400 network and human operators would be overwhelmed, or when there’s zero chance that anything flying overhead is friendly.
My guess is some idiot left it in automatic.

Even the Iranians did not blame Trump for their mistake to get off the hook for this unlike the Democrats who blamed Trump to get Iran off the hook.

Interesting that the Iranians should switch to the truth so quickly. Since this was likely human error, I wonder if this will make the leadership consider how bad human error could be if they actually had a nuclear capability.

I think ‘Backstory’ may be: Rich Iranians with their children killed. The gov’t of Iran did not want to admit to anything! Now they are carefully removing all traces of weaponry, body parts etc with bulldozers.
Russia has “automatic mode” on their Mutually Assured Destruction launch system.
They had a Soviet in 1983 who refused the launch order (and he ended up saving the world from nuclear destruction).

Heard something interesting this evening. Apparently we had also targeted a major Iranian military figure in Yemen the same day we killed Sulemani (sp?). He was NOT killed. I think they said the Revolutionary Guard force.
I agree that this probably occurred in conditions of panic and over or under reaction. Tends to suggest that the Iranians are not quite as up to snuff militarily as we may have thought. I also heard that while they may say they are cooperating with accident investigators from outside, in the past they have allowed one visa when a country said they needed a team of 4 to do the work. We shall see this time. I am sure the Canadians and Ukranians will be very upset if they run into this kind of gamesmanship.
