I would bet that our middle east ambassadors are much more secure/happy with a CIC who actually fulfills his oath and office instead of money hungry grifters who don’t give a rat’s ass about lives of our Americans overseas.
I believe there’s a good chance of your latter scenario happening, the openly socialist Dems are doing everything they can to help it along.

Since Iran fired missiles on Saudi Arabia with pin point accuracy it is accepted they deliberately missed our troops out of fear of the response from us.

Iran used GPS guided cruise missiles in the Saudi attack for accuracy, the U.S. has the ability to jam those guidance systems but the Saudi’s didn’t for some reason.
I'm sure there are credible threats made against dozens of U.S. embassies around the world with such boring regularity that the State Department hardly even pays attention to them.
Why do we have embassies in these backwater, goat-humping,cave-people infested places, anymore?

You seem to be saying the Iranians are just lousy shots or else we jammed their guidance systems. You may be right but you have no evidence. I’m saying they were warned of the consequences which could very well have included a promise to take out one of the Mullahs if even one American is harmed. I also have no proof but it seems most everyone agrees they made a face saving gesture.
My own idea would be to send cruise missiles, one for each Mullah right thru their bedroom window or front door. The missiles would be unarmed and meant to send a message of how very easy it is to take one or all of them out whenever we want.
