'Not about removing Trump': Trey Gowdy argues impeachment is Democratic scheme to take Senate (IMPEACHMENT HELD HOSTAGE - DAY 23)

Trey Gowdy said the Democrats' impeachment strategy is an acknowledgment they believe President Trump will be reelected in 2020.

A former Republican congressman from South Carolina, Gowdy argued the Democrats instead are angling to take control of the Senate to rein in Trump.

"The impeachment inquiry, investigation, votes, and ultimate refusal to transmit articles are not about removing Trump from office. Rather, it is a tacit acknowledgment he will be reelected in November of 2020. The plan now is to use impeachment to neuter that second term with a Democrat-controlled Senate," Gowdy said in a Fox News opinion piece published Thursday.

Gowdy, who recently confirmed he will not be a member of the legal team representing Trump during his impeachment trial after some confusion late last year, has been heavily critical of the Democrats' impeachment effort and named the GOP senators he believes are being targeted.

"This impeachment exercise is most assuredly about removing someone from office. It's just not about removing Trump from office. It's about removing Cory Gardner, Martha McSally, Thom Tillis, Susan Collins, and Joni Ernst from their Senate offices," he wrote.

Why not? Hussein weaponized the IRS, FBI, CIA and just about every other government agency. San Fran Gran Nan has some ammo and is using it. Doesn't matter if there aren't any crimes mentioned in the articles. RATS had a show of hands and that's all it takes.

They’re delusional. They’re already out of ammo and our side hasn’t even started firing yet.

Their chances of taking the Senate will be zero after the GOP counterstrike.

The impeachment scam has ALWAYS been about a publicity campaign to trash the Republicucks and President Trump.

The Republicans need to stop cowering in the shadows and work for the conservative voice in America. We’re seeing the liberal-takeover of several key states. I’m feeling like I have no one to fight for the things I believe in.

“IDIOT Republicans reelected Tester ...”

KNOCK IT OFF!

First: NO Republicans ‘reelected’ Tester.

DEMOCRATS did. For a Republican to get elected Democrats have to for him/her.

The Montana history of House and Senate elections has ALWAYS been Democrat.

ALWAYS!

Conrad Burns, in 1994, was the FIRST Republican senator to be reelected in the history of the state. THE FIRST!

We work hard as Republicans but Democrat politicians promise $ for farmers and ranchers and woo the liberals west of the Rockies.

Daines has been a great Senator (taking the Max Baucus seat) in ‘14. WHEN he wins reelection he will be the SECOND R Senator ever to be reelected.

Montana has a heart history of voting for Republican Presidential candidates, but locally it a Dem state...we are making strides.

Are these - Cory Gardner, Martha McSally, Thom Tillis, Susan Collins, and Joni Ernst - legitimately vulnerable come Novemeber??? I am not up on how their potential campaigns are shaping up in the polls just now.

Ernst might be vulnerable to former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack, but he doesn’t seem interested in running. Dems’ other potential candidates would likely be wiped out.
