Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg suggested Thursday that the United States bears some of the blame for the Iranian military shooting down a commercial airliner while it was at the same time firing ballistic missiles at an Iraqi military base that houses American troops.

I think the blame goes to the Iranian ATC official who gave clearance for the takeoff.

We do not need an idiot leading this country, and that is what this man is. If the Iranian government and high command were even slightly responsible, and gave even a bit of a damn about he people it was letting fly in and out of their country, they would have grounded all civilian air traffic until and unless any threat was past. Clearly, their own automatic air defense systems were engaged, and a civilian airliner was shot down. How any one other than an idiot would think this was the fault of the US, is beyond my understanding.
