Iranian retaliation begins with missile attack on Iraqi airbase

Initial reports stated that 9 rockets hit the Ain al-Assad airbase on Tuesday. The base hosts American soldiers.
Heavy missile attacks were carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps on the Ain al-Assad air base in Iraq that hosts both Iraqi and US soldiers on Tuesday night. Nine missiles hit the airbase, according to Al-Hadath.

I have heard on KFI radio we have larger base closer to Iran in the north, but the Iranians sent missiles over it to hit the smaller base.
I've also read that the White House has been open to talks with Iran, but that Iran demanded that sanctions be lifted prior to any meeting being set. President Trump refused to do that.

and the the video of the ones I did see hit appear to have a small payload—not 1000-1500lbs of payload these missiles could carry

That is exactly right. We will have more, not less, flexibility when we are out of Iraq. I think our great President wants the Iraqis to kick us out, and if so I agree with him.
