More statehouses are wading into the contentious debate over the participation of transgender athletes in men’s and women’s sports.
In recent weeks, Republican legislators in at least five states have drafted measures aimed at preventing athletes from competing in categories different than their biological sex. Lawmakers say they are specifically concerned about female athletes facing unfair competition. A conservative legal group last year filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education on behalf of three female high-school athletes claiming Connecticut’s inclusive transgender policy is unlawfully unfair.
The bills—introduced or prefiled in New Hampshire, Washington, Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri—reflect growing attention around the issue of whether transgender-rights protections are leading to unfair competition in women’s sports.
Policies regulating the eligibility of transgender high-school athletes are usually set by school associations and vary. In about a third of states, transgender students can freely compete on teams of the gender they identify with, according to transathlete.com, which tracks athletics policies nationwide.
Like the National Collegiate Athletic Association, some high-school associations allow transgender females to participate on girls’ teams if they meet certain conditions, such as completing a period of testosterone-suppression treatment or gender-reassignment surgery. Several other states lack formal guidelines.
So far most of the bills apply to high-school-aged students and don’t clearly intersect with NCAA guidelines, which allow transgender female athletes to compete on women’s college teams after completing a year of testosterone-suppression treatment.
Legislators behind the measures say they are trying to ensure an even playing field for girls, arguing that transgender female athletes have natural physical advantages over biological females, including differences in muscle mass, bone strength, lung capacity and heart size.
Critics say the legislation is unnecessary and could raise constitutional concerns about due process and discrimination.

Logically, this should be a no-brainer. But in Identity politics, there is no logic. There is biology science denial.
The average male can break the average female in half. The average very fit male can break the average very fit female in half. To suggest otherwise is to deny biology and to risk injury to women.

It is just stupefying that it has even had to come to this- where we have to pass laws preventing men from competing in women’s sports-
At the very beginning,m when a man wanted to compete- the officials should have simply said “Are you insane? NO! Don’t be an idiot!”

Which SHOULD be a reason for women to start voting heavily republican- by all rights- but they don’t- unfortunately- They hold out hope they can vote democrat and later change the dem’s mind about allowing this nonsense- They can’t change the dem’s minds- hopefully some day women will come to understand this
Dems are the reason men shower with women and dress with them and use their bathrooms in public places now- but women will not stop voting for democrats sadly- even while complaining about men leering at them in their bathrooms

Well, yeah. Women being forced to compete against men is universally seen as unfair. Duh.
how about not letting any trans compete with normal people. the female trans get a total pass and take up a real man’s spot in competitions.
Nice, but this will go nowhere. Men who slice their dix off NEED to play on a women’s team to affirm their delusion, and to force everyone else to accept it without question. They will claim discrimination, and the legislators will back off.

The physiological differences between men and women are so great that elite male and female athletes rarely compete with each other. These differences generally give men a competitive edge in sports that reward absolute strength, acceleration and speed.
But these are recognized physiological differences.
Cardiovascular Fitness - Male athletes have a higher oxygen carrying capacity than women, which allows them to reach their maximum training peak earlier. This is due to women’s lower hemoglobin levels and men’s larger body size. Maximum oxygen consumption is directly related to body size.
Bones and Ligaments - Male athletes have longer and larger bones, which provide a clear mechanical advantage over female athletes. The increased articular surface and larger structure of male bones provide them with a greater leverage and a wider frame on which to support muscle.
Strength - Male athletes have a higher ratio of muscle mass to body weight, which allows for greater speed and acceleration. This explains why female speed records in running and swimming are consistently 10 percent slower than men’s, and why, on average, they have two thirds of the strength of men.
Allowing male and female athletes to compete together for most sports is not sound. The only sports women are competitive in in physical demanding sports are endurance like ultra marathons. Endurance is largely determined by a body’s efficiency when converting calories into energy. Female athletes are more efficient than male athletes at converting glycogen to energy. Glycogen is a secondary source of fuel you use when glucose levels drop. This is why female athletes excel in ultra-long-distance sports and rarely hit the wall during long races. It also explains why ultra-running, which includes races longer than a marathon, is one of the few sports where elite female and male athletes regularly compete together. However, most times the men’s musculature makes up for the loss in endurance.

Why do she-men insist on competing with women? Why don’t transgender men with shaved legs, makeup, long hair, whatever compete against other men as always?
