Feds recommend six-month prison term for Michael Flynn
The Hill ^ | 01 07 2020 | Harper Neidig

The Justice Department is recommending that former National Security adviser Michael Flynn be sentenced to up to six months in prison for lying to the FBI, telling a court that the former Trump adviser has been uncooperative in recent months.

"The sentence should adequately deter the defendant from violating the law, and to promote respect for the law," the Justice Department wrote in a sentencing memo Tuesday. "It is clear that the defendant has not learned his lesson. He has behaved as though the law does not apply to him, and as if there are no consequences for his actions."

Flynn had pleaded guilty two years ago and agreed to cooperate with the special counsel investigation into potential Russian interference in the 2016 election.

But he has since become more combative and last year unsuccessfully tried to revoke his plea.

In December, a federal judge dismissed Flynn's accusations that the special counsel's office had engaged in a politically-motivated scheme against him and coerced him into pleading guilty.

For lying? How about that for Comey, Brennan and Clapper? They lied too.

I think Trump should pardon Flynn, who has not done anything that merits jail time.

“He has behaved as though the law does not apply to him, and as if there are no consequences for his actions.”

Now that is a remarkable thing to assert, considering the track record of top FBI management.

Maybe the deep states wants to prod Trump to issue pardons, in advance of the election, and then charge him with obstruction of justice (since pressure was being put on Flynn and others to cooperate in other cases)?

Anything goes, in today’s jurisprudence...

Except where’s the evidence that he lied? The FBI 302 form? Which the FBI are now known to doctor to fit their wants?

That POS Comey entrapped Flynn. Meanwhile the real lawbreakers are free as birds.

Yes, and it’s on us. It’s just lifetime bureaucrats telling you that they’re in charge and there’s not a damned thing you can do about it.

He violated the terms of his plea deal when he refused to testify in the case against his former business associates last summer, so he is not on solid ground here at all.

I've been assuming there's some kind of deep strategy going on here among his lawyers all along ... because if that's not the case, then Flynn comes across as one of the dumbest people ever to face the criminal justice system.

As far as I’m concerned, Flynn destroyed his chance at a pardon way back in 2017 when his lawyers told Trump’s lawyers that they’d no longer cooperate in any legal proceedings.

Reading that phraseology in their filing it seems pretty childish talking about him not having learned his lesson based on his behavior. The behavior was filing valid legal requests before the court.

Yes in common terms he was entrapped, but legally entrapment almost never occurs and is an impossible standard.

“....The FIB agents are the ones who should be going to prison!!...”
Yep. Corrupt SOBs, even in the rank & file. The whole agency should be eliminated. NEVER, I mean NEVER, answer any of their questions....even if it’s just simply for the time of day. Immediately plead the 5th and walk away if you can.
