Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that Democrats will force votes on witnesses at the start of the impeachment trial even as Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has secured enough support to delay the decision until mid-trial.
"Make no mistake, on the question of witnesses and documents, Republicans may run but they can't hide. There will be votes at the beginning on whether to call the four witnesses we've proposed and subpoena the documents we've identified," Schumer said.
He added that "America and the eyes of history will be watching what my Republican colleagues do."
"If every Republican senator votes for a rigged trial that hides the truth, the American people will see that the Republican Senate is part of a large and awful cover-up," Schumer said.
Schumer's pledge that Democrats will force votes on witnesses at the start of the trial comes as his negotiations with McConnell are at a standstill.

The first sentence would seem to indicate the senator is a blowhard and this story is just carrying his water which has no chance of prevailing. Is that about right?
No witnesses will testify. Democrats are free to call them but they won’t and we all know why.
Its all hearsay and even the Weak Sisters and Pierre Delecto won’t waste time on them.
That’s how weak is the Democrat impeachment.

I think that would make sense. House Democrats should withdraw it and do more homework.
If they hadn’t rushed it just to meet the political calendar, they might have had something.
Instead, they find themselves holding a turd bag no one wants.
I don’t think so. The whole witness thing was pretty much dead until Bolton shot his mouth off. He did it on purpose.

You can withdraw your failed articles and do it over again calling whom ever you want remember you’re a position didn’t have a vote either.
What first hand witnesses do they have? None. Have the Democrats interviewed Bolton?
If they haven’t, how do they know he would be helpful to them?
Let them put on their case if they dare and then the Senate can decide if calling witnesses would add anything relevant to the record.
Democrats seem to have buyers’ remorse about the whole thing. If they had a slam dunk case, they would have already transmitted their impeachment.
They know as things stand, President Trump will be acquitted.
The dims in the senate will get exactly what they gave the reps in the house, NOTHING!

None. He’s blowing hot air. Chuck U wants an open ended fishing expedition. He won’t get one.
She’s waiting for Chuck U to give her the trial she wants. That’s the stupidest excuse for holding impeachment hostage to cow the Senate.
When it’s all said and done, the trial will be conducted by the rules that Pelosi and Schumer want. The rinos will end up stuffing Mitch.

Mitch counts the votes. He knows his caucus inside and out. There will be votes on the rules adoption and he’ll carry the day.
