The New York Times published a mysteriously prescient op-ed Thursday that cited an attack on Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani as a possible scenario hours before the US took him out in a similar way.
The op-ed, Hypersonic Missiles Are a Game Changer, by Quincy Institute analyst and former National Security Council big Steve Simon, speculated about the use of the powerful weapons.
Is there an individual in an unfriendly country who cannot be apprehended? What if the former commander of Irans Revolutionary Guards, Qassem Soleimani, visits Baghdad for a meeting and you know the address? The temptations to use hypersonic missiles will be many, Simon wrote.
Hours after the piece was published, the Pentagon confirmed that Soleimani was killed in a US drone airstrike at Baghdad International Airport.

There a STILL anti-American forces within the White House.
someone LEAKED!!!!!
Strangely specific.
Seems unusually prescient. Coincidence?
I guess Gen. Soleimani was not a subscriber.
It sure ain’t a crossword puzzle!
Sounds like it could have been a warning to Iran
Haha....didn’t get the warning out in time.....hehe...
Yep, a traitor definitely leaked it to the Times and this was a warning to the enemy.
It would be interesting to know the exact time of the publishing of this piece.
There’s four possibilities:
1. The most amazing coincidence in the history of journalism. Clue squared. The right guy (1 in a 1000) in the right place (1 in 100) on the exact right day (1 in 1000) with (almost) the right weapon (1 in 100). Basically a 1 in 10 billion chance.
2. The author had just heard what happened and updated his story just before publication. Unlikely because editing at the Times takes hours at least.
3. The NYT article was updated after publishing and the Post is mistaken (also unlikely).
4. A deep state operative didn’t want the strike to be successful and so arranged for this otherwise pointless story about hypersonic missiles to be published on short notice as a heads up. But he or she wasn’t privy to the exact timing of the strike (just knew it was coming) and so the article was too late to be noticed by the Iranians in time.
Someone in the deep state leaked the info to the NYT.
I suspect the Iraq troop "memo" was a barium meal related that leak to the NYT.
Hmmmm.... When was it published as "former" though, if this is the article that was originally published then the use of "former" would mean it would have to have been after the missile strike.
Does anyone have any idea if that word has been altered at all?
Good spot. Weird. Very weird.
This !
Yep.
Seems unusually prescient. Coincidence?
No coincidences at this level.
Trump was set up by the neocons in his administration and is now boxed in. After Iran retaliates he will have no choice but to further enmesh us in these desert sh*tholes, the exact opposite of what he promised in his campaign. This is gonna have serious negative consequences for the 2020 elections.
