“” “” As an architect of Bashar Assads genocidal war against the Syrian people, he was one of the most guilty men on earth.”” “”
Oh-ah. Al-Qaeda and ISIS he fought against weren’t a problem... I see.
You really need a program to keep up with the players in the Middle East.
I have no issue with ensuring Syria has full control over its territory.
Non sequitur by the author.
Assad was not committing genocide, that was being done by Assad’s opponents, who were sponsored by Obama, the Saudis and Turks
Was this from the “ISIS times”? You know, the ISIS paper of record?
Democrats and celebs are all for genocide.
Gross misunderstanding of the Syrian situation. Assad was the architect of his war on his own people, which was unnecessarily brutal (but fell short of genocide). Iran, through Soleimani and his Quds Force used Hezbollah to reinforce and support Assad. Continuing the mullahs policy of fighting to the last Arab in pursuit of regional dominance.
However, Russia was the key to Assads victory. Iran bled Hezbollah dry and still could not win Assads war. They showed that they lacked the capability to have a strategic impact. Assad then turned to his fathers old patron, Russia. Who could and did provide the decisive edge through airpower and other support.
Syria was an Iranian failure, not a success. Assad appreciates Irans support, but owes his survival to Russia.

The warfare in the ME wasn’t as prevalent prior to 1978. Something occurred during that time that changed that status.
