The United States-led military coalition against Islamic State said on Monday that it was pulling out of Iraq and would be repositioning forces over the next few days and weeks, a letter seen by Reuters showed.
"Sir, in deference to the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq, and as requested by the Iraqi Parliament and the Prime Minister, CJTF-OIR will be repositioning forces over the course of the coming days and weeks to prepare for onward movement," read a letter from United States Marine Corps Brigadier General William H. Seely III, the commanding general of Task Force Iraq.
The authenticity of the letter, which was addressed to the Iraqi defence ministry's Combined Joint Operations Baghdad, was confirmed to Reuters independently by an Iraqi military source.
"We respect your sovereign decision to order our departure," it said. (Reporting by Ahmed Aboulenein Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)

By late November of 2018, eleven people had died in Afghanistan. LINK

Any loss of life is not good. Wounded troops aren't good either.
By being in theater, we develop good intel. We know who the players are, and what their intents are.
When we pull out, withing a few short years there will be new players we don't have any intel on.
They will be able to slip into the U. S., because we won't have the background on them to prevent it.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper responded on Monday to reports that the US-led coalition to combat the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization has decided to withdraw from Iraq.
“There has been no decision to leave Iraq. Period,” he said.
One question, who leaked this unsigned letter?
To me, it seemed a bit intentional, what went on today....

Good point. China is poised to be big in Africa, an article over the weekend and I’m sure others are saying Africa could indeed be largely colonized by China, so that is on top of the headache of which you speak.
