CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas -- An American family returning to the U.S. after a holiday visit to Mexico came under attack just south of Texas on Saturday night, with armed gunmen killing a 13-year-old and wounding three other people.

The attorney general's office in the state of Tamaulipas said the child was a U.S. citizen and that the parents were permanent residents of the U.S. They did not release the victims' names.

The family was traveling in a Chevrolet SUV with Oklahoma state plates, returning from a holiday visit to relatives in the state of San Luis Potosi.

Is this an “American” family, or mexicans living in the US?

Regardless, the kid was an American citizen murdered in Mexico.

***********

Sounds like they had been in the USA for some time. Reads
like the child may have been born here and a citizen by birth.

Visiting relatives in Mexico. Being familiar with Mexico as they probably are you’d think they’d avoid it at all costs. I know I’ve never been there and never will go there. No resorts, nowhere in Mexico.

Or he had dual citizenship, was killed in a country where he was a citizen and if YOU want Americans to do something about it get your happy ass down to Mexico and do whatever on your own dime with your own consequences.

I am going to point out to you before you even begin to attempt to craft your first clumsy retort that I and most other conservatives have always opposed dual citizenship exactly because of these sorts of problems. Appeals to other people to feel some sense of responsibility for some sort of justice here are quite probably void because the decedents also had Mexican citizenship.

Reads like the child may have been born here and a citizen by birth an anchor baby.

Crime and corruption just south of the border. Why the borders must be strengthened.

Dual dilemma. I feel less sympathy to dual citizens who use their foreign citizenship to travel and do business outside the US and then expect us to rescue them when things go south on them.

Yep, an anchor baby but still ‘a citizen by birth’
according to the 14th Amendment.

Why do I root for a “Clear and Present Danger” or “Sicario” Special Ops Group to start cleaning things up in Mexico with EXTREME prejudice.

Sounds like a Mexican family legally in the US. One of the MANY who go back to see grandma at Christmas. IOW, close ties and likely to know cartel members.

I had students who’d come back after visits telling me all about who’s who in the cartels.

They’re part of the “I’ve never felt unsafe” brigade. The parents learned, belatedly, that feelings have got nothing to do with it.
