BEIRUT (AP) The latest on U.S.-Iran tensions (all times local):
4:45 p.m.
Iraqs parliament has voted to expel the U.S. military from the country.
Lawmakers voted Sunday in favor of a resolution that calls for ending foreign military presence in the country. The resolutions main aim is to get the U.S. to withdraw some 5,000 U.S. troops present in different parts of Iraq.
The vote comes two days after a U.S. airstrike killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani inside Iraq, dramatically increasing regional tensions.
The Iraqi resolution specifically calls for ending an agreement in which Washington sent troops to Iraq more than four years ago to help in the fight against the Islamic State group.
The resolution was backed by most Shiite members of parliament, who hold a majority of seats.
Many Sunni and Kurdish legislators did not show up for the session, apparently because they oppose abolishing the deal.

HELLO! Iran also has a foreign military presence in Iraq!
This has nothing to do with Virginia. Elections have consequences. Now that the dems can redraw all state and federal districts in Virginia, there will probably never be a republican majority again.
I submit that many people were complacent. The libs got out and voted that Tuesday in November...it was a record turnout propelled by hatred of Trump. The gun owners were lazy and complacent.
It’s a good lesson to never skip voting.
Virginia is a now a gun grabbing blue state precisely because of open borders and big government policies supported for decades by the Republican Party. Conservatives can continue throwing good money after bad with the GOP but we won’t be getting a different outcome.
A large enough crater would do the job...
In name only. De-Nazification was pretty mild. The allies learned quickly, "You guys might be Nazis but you sorta know how to run everything in this town, how everything works. We need you guys to keep coming to work in the morning."
Rumsfeld did the exact opposite. He ostracized every bureaucrat that had ever been a Ba'ath part member (which pretty much meant every white collar public sector employee and military official, --the people who knew how everything worked).
The end result was nobody knew how to run anything and all the Ba'ath party people left to join the resistance.
Listen and understand. The saracens are out there. They can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and they absolutely will not stop. Ever. Until you are dead.
Much preferable to never-ending wars, intervening in all the world's major countries, and having a military presence in almost all the countries in the world. Imagine how much more we'd have if we stopped trying to remotely control the world?
So let’s go take care of every problem in the world that could conceivably harm an American citizen in any way.
Who cares about the cost in lives and treasure.
Im lucky that I dont have a plan for Islam, too small and lack the wisdom and power to do anything about people using religion to hurt others.
But I know to the core of my existence, Gd does not wish us to cruelly kill children of religions you dont like. I am the beneficiary of Gd sparing a child from murder by his government because of his religion. My dad at age 7 in Nazi Germany before he was saved by the Kindertransport.
To me your post showed you as the same kind of Nazis he faced. Sorry, but it does.
Then the US should withdraw from Iraq right after making sure the Kurds portion of Iraq is created into an independent country.
Right after they reimburse us for the trillions we spent there.
Exactly. This is a show. It’s a show to appease Iraqi Shiites and the muslim world that they can stand up to us. When we don’t leave, they have good cause for saying we told you to get out and you won’t leave.
Secretly they want us there, but that doesn’t play into the narrative. I’d leave frankly, and then nuke the whole friggin Shiite hole.
