MORE THAN HALF OF Americans think President Donald Trump's behavior warrants his removal from office and 57% think he's committed an impeachable offense, according to a poll released Friday morning – unwelcome news for a president facing a Senate trial that could begin this month.
[ SEE: Photos of Trump’s Impeachment Hearings on Capitol Hill ] Further, the survey found that 57% of Americans want the Senate to hear from new witnesses to shed light on Trump's conduct, a demand Democrats have made – so far without success – of the GOP Senate majority.
The FiveThirtyEight/Ipsos poll reflects a partisan divide over Trump that has been consistent in surveys by a wide variety of pollsters throughout the investigation and December impeachment of the president, with the vast majority of Democrats wanting Trump removed and the overwhelming number of Republicans opposing the action.

This fourth wave of the 538 Impeachment/Ipsos Poll was conducted December 26th to December 30th, 2019 using Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel®. The first wave of this poll was based on a nationally-representative probability-based sample of 2,088 adults age 18 or older and included a general population sample of US adults as well as an oversample of Independents and those with no party preference to ensure a sufficient sample size among them. Wave 4 was also fielded to all who completed Wave 1 and had 1,551 completes. The study weights, as described in further detail below, adjusted for the oversample using party identification benchmarks from ABC News so that results reflect the general population of US adults.
So, they are essentially using the bias of oversampling Democrats in polls that ABC News uses and then weights the three categories (D, I & R) based on this. This is bound to skew the results because it is unlikely they have changed their percentages of D, I & R since Obama was elected.
Keep in mind also, that this polls is of adults, not registered voters or likely voters. The bigger the sample of "adults", the more it tends to skew leftward.
But go ahead and let these fools believe that America wants Trump removed from office. They're just lying to themselves.

Not commenting on the validity of the poll, but assuming Democrats believe it, sitting on the impeachment allows time for support of impeachment, more pressure on republicans to allow witnesses, and pushes all this closer and closer to the election. If the Democrats believed support for impeachment was declining, then it would be in their interest to push through it quickly and get it over with.
