Rand Paul: U.S. Soldiers ‘Deserve Better’ than Undeclared War with Iran
Breitbart ^ | 3 Jan 2020 | JOSHUA CAPLAN

Posted on 01/03/2020 7:25:18 AM PST by RandFan

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) reacted Friday to the U.S.’s deadly airstrike on a top Iranian military commander, stating that it would be “feckless” for the country to wage war against the Islamic regime without Congressional authorization.

“President Trump viscerally understands that the toppling of Saddam Hussein made Iran stronger. Soleimani, like Hussein, was an evil man who ordered the killing of Americans. Yet, the question remains, whether his death will lead to more instability in the Middle East or less,” Paul wrote on Twitter. “The question today is whether the assassination of Soleimani will expand the war to endanger the lives of every American soldier or diplomat in the Middle East?”

“If we are to go to war w/ Iran the Constitution dictates that we declare war. A war without a Congressional declaration is a recipe for feckless intermittent eruptions of violence w/ no clear mission for our soldiers,” the senator added. “Our young men and women in the armed services deserve better.”

“To simply let the status quo exist and pretend that the Iranians aren’t going to continue attacking us?”

There are several balls in play here. Everyone who thinks they are someone, has to make a comment or they feel they will be less relevant. Making a pro-Trump comment puts you in a special box and opens you up to a mountain of criticism. Making a fence-sitting comment that sort of agrees with Trump, but demands more of something is what Rand has done here. (I had a boss once who called these types “naysayers.*”) Then, there are the Democrats, most of whom said, yes, this guy was evil, but they would have handled the situation better than Trump.

* Naysayer: A person who repeatedly says no to any proposal or action. If the action fails they say, “See? I told you so.” If it succeeds, they say that it was because their actions caused the doer to do something different or better. Naysayers are in a win/win.

Rand being Rand.

Rand Paul's position on every issue has been solidly consistent. "Follow the Constitution."

“Is he calling for a declaration of war on Iran?”

Don’t you just love the way the politicians say something without saying anything at all? Without clear paths and or direction on how to deal with situations like this its all verbal diarrhea.

“What is Rand Paul’s alternative?

To simply let the status quo exist and pretend that the Iranians aren’t going to continue attacking us?”

Don’t know, maybe he thinks our embassies are fair game for attacks and not worthy of a response.

Let’s say US casualties are mild or nearly zero, and we DO succeed in knocking off the Mullahs and our black-turbaned 40-year headache is over:

What will WE IN THE USA get...?

Chicks? Land? Money?

My bet is we get NONE of it.

Zip, Zippo, nada.

I’ll bet we have to spend a whooooooole lot of money, have to grease the palms of ALL the neighbors.

We knocked off Iraq, then we have to knock off Iran.

Iran is a much tougher nut to crack than Iraq, but does anyone really believe there won’t then be ANOTHER one empowered and needing to get knocked off...?

I loathe Globalist Wesley Clark —he gave orders in Bosnia for Amerian troops to open fire on Russia— but now..? He looks clairvoyant:

“I just got a paper from upstairs about how they’re going to knock off seven countries in five years...”

Has anyone noticed that all these countries ARE ON THAT LIST..?

Jeez, wake up.

I hate the mullahs, love the US military, but have a LITTLE mercy on your own guys, wow.

What is Rand Paul’s alternative?

The first step would be to shut down the U.S. embassy in Baghdad and bring every U.S. citizen home for an indefinite period of time -- until THAT country can figure out whether it is even a viable nation.

The second step is to round up George W. Bush and every globalist pr!ck in his administration who carried out the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and give them a simple choice: either spend the rest of your lives in Gitmo, or surrender your U.S. passport and we'll install all of you as the new rulers of Iraq. You can live in Baghdad and fix the toilet you broke in 2003.

Probably to send them another $150 or so billions like Obammy did in hopes they would accept it and quietly go away. But, that ain’t happening. They have a date, along with Russia, Turkey, and many other muzzie nations, on the Mountains of Israel, with the LORD God. There HE WILL destroy 5/6ths of those forces. (Ezekiel 38 & 39).

If a bunch of illegal immigrants from MS-13 sacked the Chinese embassy in Washington, who do you think the Chinese would hold responsible for it — El Salvador, or the U.S.?

STFU, Rand... what do YOU know about war? nothing.?

All too often Senator Paul appears to be the only one in Washington DC who has actually read the Constitution.

Our boys are stationed in a $hithole. Unfortunately, they are stuck between sects that want to get rid of each other. The sooner one group takes over the area the better. The solution of keeping our men will eventually fail.

It is clear that the US cares more about that area of the world than protecting Americans here. Illegals have killed, raped and harmed more people here than the sand people in the ME.

So, what you’re saying is that Iraq could have been a better place ( better being relative ) has Saddam Hussein continued to rule the place?

Well, if a real declaration of war occurred, “giving aid and comfort” takes on a whole new significance (hear that, CNN?)

So just say “it’s cool for them to hit us.” then.

It’s not hard.

They leave us alone, there will be no problems. Go give the lecture to Iran’s president and let us know how receptive he is.

Rand, hang loose, we haven’t gone to war with Iran yet. All we did was take out a terrorist leader.

I’m all for pulling our troops out of the deserts and letting the savages sort it out.

But according to Pompeo’s earlier interview, we had solid evidence of American lives in immediate risk.

Until we pull them out, we ought to do all we can to protect them. This was a “good shoot”.
