Church of Christ Shooting: 2 Dead, 1 Critical In White Settlement, Texas

Two people have been killed, and on critically injured after a shooting took place at the West Freeway Church of Christ located in Texas.

MedStar spokeswoman Macara Trusty confirmed that one person died at the scene of the shooting, and one person died en route to a hospital. A third victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The Church of Christ was live-streaming their Sunday services on their YouTube channel, and while the motive remains unclear, a man is seen running in a firing off shots while church-goers ducked under their seats in fear, as reported by the New York Daily News. The video has since been removed from the church’s YouTube channel.

Hard to be sure but the “good guy with a gun” also appears to be African American. Regardless, this guy is a hero, going directly to the threat and taking care of business. Hopefully the perp is dead.

Well, I hope more than one shot. The still is a bit deceiving, the distance appears to be about the length of one pew +. I don’t know who that is in the way though. Being down would be better.

One church I went to for a while in the '90s had an annual "Cowboy" day with fun games after church for the kids such as lassoing and so forth.

I know many in the church were armed but on Cowboy Day the ushers wear Western holstered guns with cowboy hats and scarves. The pastor announces at some point it is time to "take" the offering (ominously) as the ushers pull scarves over faces and pass the plate. All in good fun.
