For once, the climate news might be better than you thought. Its certainly better than Ive thought.
You may not have noticed it, amid the flood of bad news about the Emissions Gap and the collapse of the COP25 climate conference in Madrid, but over the last few weeks a new narrative about the climate future has emerged, on balance encouraging, at least to an alarmist like me. It is this: As best as we can understand and project the medium- and long-term trajectories of energy use and emissions, the window of possible climate futures is probably narrowing, with both the most optimistic scenarios and the most pessimistic ones seeming, now, less likely.
That narrowing contains both good and bad news what was recently the best to hope for now seems vanishingly unlikely, and what was the worst to fear much less likely, too. But lets start with the good news, since there is typically so little of it.
A few weeks ago, the International Energy Agency released its annual World Energy Outlook 2019. The IEA is not known to be optimistic, at least to climate advocates, who have, for years, mocked its projections for future renewable growth: Every year, the agency basically predicts a plateau for renewable use, and every year renewables keep dramatically growing. This made the most noteworthy prediction in this years report even more so. According to the IEA report, given only current carbon policies, which nearly everyone studying climate considers terribly weak, the world is on track for about 3 degrees Celsius of warming by 2100, which could, if existing pledges were implemented, be brought down as low as 2.7 degrees about one and a half degrees less warming than is suggested by the U.N.s IPCC reports in ...

“So now we have, what, 13 or 14 years to live?”

The previous countdown -
But the retarded and mentally ill great granddaughter of Hitler says otherwise.
I thought the ‘science’ was settled?
Im waiting for the next ice age, which I predict will start to emerge within 20 years. Then everyone will be rushing to buy real estate in the South ( well kinda like we are now LOL)
Good argument
The Environmental Wackos have saved us!
Hallelujah!
Serious people are not buying into the nonsense. The Russians, Chinese and Indians realize that one volcano eruption negates all the frenzied efforts to restrict carbon emissions.Underwater volcano and smoker activity correlate with arctic ice and glacier thickness, not ambient air temperature. If the West wishes to shoot themselves in the economic foot with foolish environmental policies, they will sign all the treaties the West concocts. Meanwhile they will burn whatever they have to maintain electricity generation. Without reliable , cheap electricity, there is poverty, social and political unrest.

I’m wishing global warming were so - I’ve endured enough ghastly cold winters in the northland!
I actually meant to say they arent giving it up. AGW is everything for the left they just will retool the predictions.
The UN is graciously/s (kicking & screaming) allowing solar and galactic energy input to climate studies in their next climate report.
They made a terrible miscalculation when they told us it would be too late in 12 years.
The deadline was too close, and therefore, easy to say it’s too late...why bother.
They have to come up with a way to move the deadline out, so that it looks achievable so the lemmings will buy it.
Read that Guardian article that said America was trying to suppress it, but EU cities wouldve under water, Britain would be like Siberia, by 2020.
What a joke these fools are.
Babbling Blow fish trying to sound like they know whats going on. Gak~
Libs found themselves in a quandary. The “climate catastrophe” they’ve been pushing is scaring white people into not having children and without white people, there won’t be anyone left who cares about climate change.
Winner winner, chicken dinner!
Too many white people on drugs. How else to explain the craziness to be in a frenzy about hoaxes? You're right though, South America, Africa, islanders and others don't give a damn about the global warning hoax, they're having children and living their lives as others did before them.
I don’t trust any story that uses C instead of F as a temperature gauge. I think though, that 2.7-4.5 degrees C is pretty much impossible. That would be 4.9-8.1, that is quite in increase. Climate alarmists will be breaking necks from whiplash when average temps start falling instead of staying relatively stable.
Trump saved us!!!
I read somewhere that David Wallace-Wells has been paid over three million dollars since 2015 by a subsidiary of Exon.
That’s what I heard about this turncoat climate denier....

I get that this author believes the report shows that the measures put in place already are making some progress in avoiding the climagedon we are all heading towards, so the climate alarmists/communists/anti-fossil fuel crowd are on the right track.
