This Christmas, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg sought to draw his followers to a sacred story that helps shape the presidential candidate’s worldview and politics. But the pushback he received — mostly from conservative Christians — illuminates how one of the burgeoning culture wars during the 2020 election is the meaning of Christianity.
Buttigieg, an Episcopalian who often discusses his faith on the campaign trail, sought to tie the Nativity story to some of the issues dominating political discourse. He tweeted:
“Today I join millions around the world in celebrating the arrival of divinity on earth, who came into this world not in riches but in poverty, not as a citizen but as a refugee. No matter where or how we celebrate, merry Christmas."

The late Methodist Archbishop Kennedy in Los Angeles used to say he believed in the divinity of Jesus, but not that he was divine.

What does he think “the City of David” means?
The first hint should be that Episcopalians are a cult and not Christian. They don’t believe in sin or the need for a Savior. They follow the “New Spirit” who is decidedly not the Holy Spirit, and which promotes homosexuality and New Age beliefs. Their form of baptism is not Christian, in that instead of repentance, renouncing Satan and following Jesus, those baptized Episcopalian vow that they will follow Social Justice as their “baptismal covenant.” They also teach that Episcopal baptism alone is enough to assure salvation into Heaven without any need for amendment of living or renouncing sin.
What does he think “Immanuel” means?
Lefties like Rev. Jesse Jackson Jr., have been pushing this “interpretation” for decades.
That’s a trick they do, they’ll say he can be “Devine” without being deity.

Yes- a TAX refugee! The reason Joseph was forced to travel to Bethlehem was to be “enrolled. Enrolled to be TAXED by the government.
These idiots are defaming St.Joseph, as if he was homeless and unemployed. Joseph was a strong man, very aware of his responsibility toward his foster son, Jesus and towards Mary. He took them into Egypt to save the life of the boy Jesus. This was not an easy task and was totally unselfish.
Joseph was not only a man’s man, he was a righteous man after the heart of his Creator, chosen from among the descendants of David to guard and guide Mary and her divine son, Jesus.
St Joseph is one of my favorite saints, and I am certain he is being justly honored and is seated near the throne of his foster son, Jesus Christ.
Joseph and Mary were not poor. He was a skilled tradesman. She came from royalty in her family. I doubt they were begging for alms.
They were in the stable because they go into town late.
They did not flee to Egypt that week. People think that Mary and Joseph kept their newborn child in a barn? The didn’t flee and become “refugees” for at least months. And when they did they were not in a strange land any more than a person is when they move across state borders. It was all Rome.
People have to stop listening to people who have little idea why is going on beyond what Hallmark tells them.

Jesus was born homeless
When I hear the former I usually point out that he was not fleeing from anything, just going to be counted so he could be taxed.
When I hear the latter I usually point out that he was just going to be counted so he could be taxed and therefore he had been taxed out of his home by the government!

The Jesus was a refugee line drives me crazy. Jesus was not a refugee. Both Palestine and Egypt were provinces of the Roman Empire at that point. Basically like fleeing from California into Nevada.

“O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit” (Jeremiah 16:19).
Buttigig is ignorant.
Gay and liberal Episcopalians translated their own version of the Bible to say what validates their lifestyle.
