Reporter's Notebook: Why is Pelosi holding the articles of impeachment? DC insiders have some theories (IMPEACHMENT HELD HOSTAGE - DAY 8)
Fox News ^ | 12/25/19 | Chad Pergram

**SNIP**

Washington has been atwitter over what Pelosi’s gambit could be by holding the articles. Let’s face it: no one really knows why Pelosi is holding the articles. Only she knows. But, here are some reasons various that learned Washington hands have suggested to Fox News as to why Pelosi isn’t sending the articles to the Senate just yet:

**SNIP**

3) Impeachment has gone badly for the Democrats. Pelosi was forced into impeaching the president by liberals in her caucus. She’s wanted to apply a hand brake and halt the process now in order to protect vulnerable freshmen Democrats who supported impeachment.

4) Pelosi feared a Senate trial. The president and many Republicans have said they wanted to summon her, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the Bidens and the whistleblower as witnesses in a Senate trial. Nothing good would come from a wide-open Senate trial for Democrats.

5) Pelosi wanted to hold the articles of impeachment through the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. This would delay a Senate trial until the field of 2020 Democrats settled - and would protect senators running for president.

Dems are deeply disturbed individuals that thrive on chaos.

Pelosi exhibits the classic Democrap profile. She is calculatedly sowing disorder and confusion.

She engages the electorate w/ her unpredictable behavior, appearing to be exerting “leadership”.......

Being unbalanced, she switches gears when small changes in conditions surface, to gain advantage.

Pelosi wrought impeachment, now she is geared up for something other than that upon which the House has already spoken.

Let’s understand........this is the party’s chosen political strategy.

The McGhan court case is supposed to be resolved on Jan 3 2020. My guess is that Nancy is waiting for the possibility of being right on the obstruction of Congress charge but it looks doubtful.

It is all about controlling the narrative . Once the process passes to the Senate the RATs no longer control the circus. Get a Writ of mandamus from the DC circuit court forcing the House to pass the articles over.

With Pelosi holding Impeachment over the President like a Sword of Damocles, Barr cannot declassify the FISA and release it's impact.

Why not? In fact, I think once it's ready, Trump will tell Barr to do exactly that.

The Constitution says NOTHING about "sending the articles over." The House already impeached the President. Per the Constitution, the ball is now in the Senate's court. McConnell should have stated that fact on December 18th, and set a date for the trial in the Senate already. It would have robbed Pelosi of her stall tactic.

Turtle can still do that. Anytime he wants to.

My own take is some combination of the below:
1. She wants to go into the Fall 2020 Election season saying Trump was impeached without any resolution. She does not want Trump to be acquitted by the Senate. She especially does not want Trump bragging about his acquittal.
2. The House is probably mulling additional articles of impeachment. She hopes they will be stronger than what she has now.
3. She thinks waiting will give the Media time to put pressure on the weak Willies in the Senate (Murkowski, Collins, and Romney).
4. By claiming the Senate is not being “fair”, she is hoping to tip the Senate in 2020.

MOST IMPORTANT - Mostly, she is using it as an insurance policy. If Trump is re-elected in 2020 and the Senate either goes (D) or the (R) majority thins, then she will submit the articles for sure. Assuming, of course, that she keeps her majority in the House. Given the number of Rs retiring, this is probably a given though.

He could, but he lost his chance. He has been all over FOX and other networks saying he relishes not doing anything until Queen Nancy "sends over the articles."

Controlling the narrative are what it’s all about. McLuhan said it a slightly different way.

Can’t the Senate just start the trial with what it has and immediately after have the vote, with the preamble, “We will vote on it, and then we’ll read the articles of impeachment (whenever they arrive)”?

‘Sound familiar?

Not shown in article:

14. The articles are being withheld as an insurance policy in the event there are any SCOTUS vacancies (e.g. Ginsburg) in 2020. The impeachment trial will be used to delay any other Senate business so that Trump cannot get a new justice confirmed by the Senate before it recesses prior to the November election.

My hope is McConnell is giving the speaker a prudent amount of time to "officially" send the garbage articles over to him. After that, maybe 3 days after they come back from vacation, he will set a quick future date for the senate trial ignoring the demented old hag speaker and her silly games.

Maybe she will be called upon to present their case in person since she feels it was worth all the money and time to pursue it. Treat her like a perp and not a speaker since that's what she's acting like by obstructing justice.

Or perhaps she knows something. Like they only have one or two RINOs to sway to get the vote to convict and the holiday break...isn’t.

It is simpler than that. I believe she is waiting to see what the ruling is on the McGhann hearing on January 3rd, which will give guidance as to whether McGhann can ignore the House subpeona or not. If they say he can, I believe she will go ahead and move forward. If they say that he must answer, then she will apply maximum pressure on McConnell and the Senate.

The Democrat party is trying to destroy the constitution as part of their Cloward-Piven strategy. The streets are paved with homeless, racism and antisemitism has increased, drivers licenses are now being given to illegals and laws are being broken with the felons getting off scot free. Meanwhile attacks on the executive branch by the democrats, the media and other foreign and domestic enemies is intended to create a constitutional crisis.

Pelosi is a sick old woman, but still has the chops, experience and team to forward an agenda. Hate Pelosi all we want, but she has an agenda and as far as I can tell, playing her hand well. We shouldn’t be fooled by her holding up the articles of impeachment. We are busy looking at what she is showing us and not what she is hiding behind her back.

One would hope so. McConnell has doing the interview shows, and he stated flat out that he doesn't want the articles presented to the Senate anyway.

Can she legally hold onto them until after the 2020 election? What if they win the Senate? They’re probably resigned to losing the Presidency. If they put all their energy into taking back the Senate could they then conduct a sham trial there too?

It would be a new house and I would think she would have to win another vote

I think it’s really simple. She wants to be able to say he’s impeached without offering the opportunity of acquittal in the Senate. For her, the delay is win/win.
