During the “Powerhouse Roundtable” portion of Sunday’s This Week on ABC, some on the panel of left-wing journalists shared concerns about Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) tactic of refusing to hand over the Articles of Impeachment against President Trump to the Senate. On top of that, there were worries about the public’s minimal interest in the proceedings.
Speaking on how he saw the Senate trial being conducted, ABC senior national correspondent Terry Moran declared: “Mitch McConnell calls the shots. At the end of the day, the Senate has the sole power to try impeachments. He’s in control of the Senate. I think he will, because he is an institutionalist so some degree, he'll try to work with Democrats. But at the end of the day, the rules of this trial will be laid down by Mitch McConnell.”
Moran also seemed confounded by Pelosi’s plan to not deliver the Articles of Impeachment until after the New Year:

I think it is the lack of public interest that is killing them. If the public were up in arms about impeachment, ABC News (and others) would be reporting Pelosi’s tactic as genius.
Our independent voters have the attention span of a 6 month old. I assume each day that passes, Nancy and the democrats will continue to lose steam on the impeachment and the numbers will continue to track against them. Then for a few days after she transmits them to senate the interest will revive until its clear there is nothing new. Unless there are new witnesses. However, once the effect of anti-Trump witnesses wears off we will be back to the same baseline of public support for and against.

No he’s not confounded by Pelosi’s plan. He knows perfectly well, as with all the other members of the MSM Nazi media, that the entire impeachment proceeding is a farce and a fraud being perpetrated on the American people by the Deep State. Moran-Goebbels and the rest of his ilk are just continuing the propaganda campaign.

It’s not rocket science. She’s doing it to wait out the court cases and get the Mueller grand jury raw transcripts. She’s taking a lot of heat in the meantime so she must know there’s a lot of juicy gossip in there.

The gopE senate is giving legitimacy to this farce, they want Trump gone as much as the dems do. If mcconnell and linda were serious about dispatching the articles of impeachment they would start calling witnesses in for hearings. They could call the WB, schiff, biden or the OCIG that changed the rules to allow hearsay. The gopE senate is okay with damaging Trump especially if they can keep their hands clean in the process.

That’s enough to make them scream at the sky some more.
If the “new witnesses” are anything like the witnesses the House has already paraded in front of the TV cameras, I suspect the Senate trial will have lower ratings than an overnight test signal on TV.
I’d love if the articles were never sent over, Nanzi is thrown out of her speaker office Nov 3 and the incoming congress throws the articles in the trash. Trump can then legitimately say that he was truly never impeached - that it was all just Democrat theater.
McConnell has already said he will coordinate closely with Trump’s legal team on this. Do you have any sense that Trump’s lawyers would even want most of those witnesses to testify in a trial?
