The Senior Drill Instructor of another platoon in my series was a big ol’ huge Samoan. I was kinda glad I wasn’t in that platoon.

Why should anchor babies get more rights than Samoans?

Wrong argument. We should do away with anchor babies, which makes that line of reasoning moot.

We’re not talking a large number of people becoming citizens. American Samoa has around 55,000 people, and over 180,000 American Samoans live in the U.S.

And, most important of all, they will all vote reliably democratic. Forever.

Seems to me to be a solution looking for a problem. Let Pelosi have her cheap labor carve out for her fishing cannery. Or is that Feinstein? One or the other anyhoo.

I don’t think people who are inhabitants of territories should be US citizens unless they already were US citizens. They should take care of their land and the US can agree to protect it militarily.

That means none of these people should vote in our elections and should not be capable of freely migrating into a US state to vote.

I don’t care how tasty they are, I don’t think we should give citizenship to American S’mores.

Sure, everybody enjoys the taste of chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker, but should they.....

What?

An island?

Never mind.

Why? Or better yet, if we do, then empower them with full unabridged constitutional rights, for them and all territories, etc. That includes, specifically, the 2nd amendment. Make it reciprocal for all US citizens that might visit these locations.

It is NOT unconstitutional, this Judge got it wrong. Congress needs to fix their laws if they want this.

“The U.S. owns five territories: Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa”

Wrong direction, make the other 4 into American nationals just like the Samoans. We don’t need five more democrat States with 10 more democrat senators. Yes, I know the author isn’t suggesting Statehood but follow the slippery slope and that’s where it ends up.

Nothing against Samoans, but I think we’ve created enough “citizens” in the last few decades.

Let’s halt the massive intake for awhile, clean out those who are not entitled to be here, tighten our immigration laws and procedures, and think things over.

(I could be persuaded to change my mind on this issue if we could export 100 Somalians for every Samoan made a citizen.

14th Amendment citizenship always only applied to individuals born under the right circumstances in one of the states of the United States. Not to individuals born in a territory of the United States. For the latter to qualify as citizens at birth requires an act of naturalization. As in, Congress must act pursuant to its constitutional power of Naturalization. Which of course means that all such individuals fail the Natural Born Citizen test. Boo hoo.

The Mormons have been converting a lot of Samoans, so no doubt they would support this.
