I bought one of his book back in the 70’s, “Be Here Now.” Lots of cool photos in it, and the message was simple and straightforward: live each day a moment at a time. Always wise words. I remember working as a student employee janitor at MSU Vet Clinic (stinky, messy job) and with a lot of stress in my life (can’t even remember now specifically what about), so I as disinfected the animal exam tables, mopped the floors and trying to ease my stress, by repeating over and over in my mind “be here now,” It helped.
I had no idea that he was an acid head for a while. I don’t recall it being mentioned in his book.
He had a lot to teach us and he did so.
He was a pretty awesome guy who helped others in many ways.
I remember flipping through that book once. I also remember the truism, “Wherever you go, there you are.”
Dispensers of good advice seldom live up to their own teachings.
