A memorial for a Chicago man shot dead earlier this year turned into a bloodbath early Sunday with at least 13 people getting shot, according to authorities.
The house party just days before Christmas was to honor the birthday of Lonell Irvin, a 22-year-old man fatally shot during an attempted carjacking in April, sources told the Chicago Tribune.

Having said that, Englewood is one of Chicago's top three gun violence/gang-banging/drug infested neighborhoods. Anyone who follows the websites HeyJackass.com or SecondCityCop.com knows this.
Personally, I'm so glad I don't ride the commuter train into the city through that neighborhood anymore. Yes, I've been on the train when it got shot at. Thankfully the trains have bulletproof glass (I'm NOT kidding.) FRA Part 223 Glazing stamped right on the windows.

The near South, West and NorthWest parts of the city are the most dangerous. Downtown Chicago in the business district and mostly speaking on the "Magnificent Mile" you're as safe as any other big city in the country with occasional issues with the "urban youths" and their flash mob b.s. happening on the Magnificent Mile (because that's where all the money and "rich white people" are.)
I'm only in this state a few more years until I retire. I've been trying to find a comparable job anywhere in Tennessee or Arizona, my two choices to go to when I retire. If I can find one, great -- I'm outta here. If not, I've downsized and minimized enough that the constant new taxes we get hammered with aren't affecting me much at all. I've become an efficient minimalist and generally speaking, very good at avoiding taxes.
That headline with “gun violence” makes me want to puke. The correct tern us “thug violence.”
Of course, if this shooting happened in a suburban area and the shooter was white it'll be breaking news everywhere.

As a former Shitchicagoan who left in 1971 and has lived here in TN for a bit over 31 years, I say we’re glad to have you, provided you’re a Republican who supports the 2d Amendment, likes small government, and loves low taxes.
Washington should put out travel warnings for Chicago like they do other nations for gun/gang battles.
I live in a small rural Colorado mountain town. Crime and gangs are one of the things I don’t have to worry about.
I never want to live in a big city again and also my vote counts for something here.
That’s the evil thing about the whole “gun violence” bit—it deliberately conflates legitimate lethal self defense with firearms and illegal violence with them, all with the horrific purpose of promoting gun confiscation.
Put the friggen criminals behind bars. This turnstile (in)justice has to end.
I’ve been to Chicago. As long as you stay in the tourist area, you’re safe. Had a good time while I was there.

I love your state. Been there many times. Recently interviewed for Unum Insurance in Chattanooga. Didn't work out so I'm still looking. I really like that part of Tennessee for some reason. Also like Nashville very much and outside of Pigeon Forge (in the mountains) as well.
You live in a beautiful state with really wonderful people. I've never met anyone in Tennessee who wasn't friendly. Truth.
