The language would have required the White House to release Ukraine defense aid quickly.
Senior Trump administration officials in recent days threatened a presidential veto that could have led to a government shutdown if House Democrats refused to drop language requiring prompt release of future military aid for Ukraine, according to five administration and congressional officials.
The language was ultimately left out of mammoth year-end spending legislation that passed the House and Senate this week ahead of a Saturday shutdown deadline. The White House said President Trump signed the $1.4 trillion package Friday night.
The Ukraine provision was one of several items the White House drew a hard line on during negotiations to finalize the spending legislation, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the developments. It would have required the White House to swiftly release $250 million in defense money for Ukraine that was part of the spending package.
The White House this year refused to release congressionally appropriated defense aid to Kyiv during a period when President Trump had asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate former vice president and 2020 candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter, who had served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company. Trumps request of Zelensky as the White House delayed the aid was at the heart of House Democrats decision to impeach Trump this week on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Yup. It's what Presidents do.
Bitches.
Free ! Free ! Free just means let the kids pay for it
Where’s the commercial or video showing a toddler happily playing suddenly being demanded to pay its thousands of dollars share of the national debt ? When the toddler breaks into screaming” HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO ME ???” in tears ?

If this impeachment BS wasn’t going on Trump should have vetoed this. NOW I HOPE HE EXPLAINS AND BLAMES THAT SHAKEDOWN FORCING ITS PASSAGE.
That democrat controlled house 1600 or more page budget blaster hasn’t been examined but I bet there is Bailouts for sanctuary states and cities along with a mountain of other appropriations going for give-a-way projects
Honestly I don’t know what’s in that spending bill...but what I DO know is that its passage and Trump’s impeachment grinding to a halt ain’t NO coincidence.
Somebody thinks we all fell off the turnip truck.....
Can anyone interpret what this means in English? This is written in the usual backward, mirror image, inside out, Reverse Polish Notation style that the media always uses, and makes no sense to a casual reader.
Just like the Dems - wanting to give the Ukraine “most favored nation status” - just because.....Trump...
Erika Werner lies.
Because the original request was nothing more than a presser and a photo op.
My take on this is that if the $250 million for Ukraine had been included, they would have used it as a talking point against Trump anyway. They would have said “see, Trump really did think the $250 was necessary for Ukraine, and he’s only releasing it now because he got ‘caught’ trying to use it as leverage for personal reasons to take down his political opponent Joe Biden.” So they were already planning to attack Trump on the $250 million, whether it was or wasn’t included in the spending package.
Here are the facts. The Ukrainians got their aid, and they didn't have to investigate Biden to get it.
Yep, and that’s injustice!
Need to pay attention to what apportionments the Democrats seem to be most concerned with. Follow the money...
Good.
There was a strong CORRUPTION ELEMENT in Ukraine’s government.
President was wise to do this.
Erika Werner lies.
... three other countries had their military aid held up for corruption issues at exactly the same time Ukraine did.
It’s foreign policy, which is the responsibility of the POTUS and THAT is why the demand to take the “Ukraine” language out.
“to release Ukraine defense aid quickly.”
Gotta insure the kickbacks are on time.
