ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, MARYLAND — Flanked by two fighter jets and in front of a giant American flag, President Trump on Friday signed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act that officially created the Space Force, the sixth and first new military branch since 1947.
“For the first time since Truman, we will create a brand new American military service,” Trump said. “You will witness the birth of the Space Force. That’s a big moment and we’re all here for it.”

This is the stupidest decision DJT has made. Hard to believe the Title X issues with space cannot be directed and empowered within the capabilities of the Air Force and Navy.
We fell behind not because we didn't have a Space Force. We fell behind because we are stupid to realize space is the HIGH GROUND from where all wars will be fought.

I’ve seen this comment from that signing floating around:

But as much as I would personally love for that comment to be
just about exotic space force hardware, I feel I must share
our President’s comment in full context...
“Our military is now dominant against any of our competitors
and if you saw where we started from not so long ago, you’d
really be amazed. I want to thank everybody, but I want to
also thank those great companies that really designed,
made, this equipment because I have seen it and I’ve seen
much of it in action, and I’ve frankly never seen anything

I have had a chance to ask people who I think actually know why this was done. They said space has been an Air Force budget item for years. The Air Force just took the space money and spent it on fighters. So a separate command was necessary to force spending on space defenses.
