Trump Should Be Removed from Office (Editorial in Christianity Today)
Christianity Today ^ | 12/19/19 | Mark Galli

Posted on 12/19/2019 4:53:36 PM PST by mkleesma

Billy Graham explains that Christianity Today will help evangelical Christians interpret the news in a manner that reflects their faith. The impeachment of Donald Trump is a significant event in the story of our republic. It requires comment.

The typical CT approach is to stay above the fray and allow Christians with different political convictions to make their arguments in the public square, to encourage all to pursue justice according to their convictions and treat their political opposition as charitably as possible. We want CT to be a place that welcomes Christians from across the political spectrum, and reminds everyone that politics is not the end and purpose of our being. We take pride in the fact, for instance, that politics doesn't dominate our homepage.

That said, we feel it necessary from time to time to make our own opinions on political matters clear—always, as Graham encouraged us, doing so with both conviction and love. We love and pray for our president, as we love and pray for leaders (as well as ordinary citizens) on both sides of the political aisle.

Let’s grant this to the president: The Democrats have had it out for him from day one, and therefore nearly everything they do is under a cloud of partisan suspicion. This has led many to suspect not only motives but facts in these recent impeachment hearings. And, no, Mr. Trump did not have a serious opportunity to offer his side of the story in the House hearings on impeachment.

But the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.

I’m fed up with these sanctimonious religious groups pontificating about matters they have knowledge of. They’re a bunch of hypocrites, many of whom go through life fondling little boys. It’s no wonder the Church is losing members. Every time the dopey pope opens his mouth, he pisses off anoth 20 million people. Thirty years ago PC USA went gay. I left the Church.

This is an absolute lie. I am so sick of the Left's lies. I thought being a Christian meant being honest, but clearly that is not the case for this organization.

And they had the gall to cite Billy Graham to lend credibility to their fantasies.

Billy Graham just lost my rather large annual donation to his Samaritan’s Purse organization for allowing this trash article.

I will be happy to let them know about it

Christianity Today speaks for all of those who will pay any price, say anything to keep people coming and sitting in the pews. I probably would imagine that a lot of other neo evangelical groups would endorase and give a stamp of approval. No wonder evangelical christianity is loosing it’s influence. Sad. I was a loyal subscriber but saw the writing on the wall years ago, and stopped my subuscription. Thanks for posting, and letting us know where CT stands.

This is the type of “Christians” the Left likes to kick around. The “turn the other cheek” kind that is begging for “May I have another” beating.

Trump is the type of Christian that follows Jesus’s words of “sell your cloak and buy a sword”

These days are made for Trump’s kind of Christianity so future Christians can afford to “turn the other cheek”

I’m with Trump!!

“The facts in this instance are unambiguous: the writer is a homosexual who hates President Trump. What’s that? There are no facts to attest to the above? Then the author and I seem to be approaching things the same way.”

Not the same way. A different way. You accused a leftist and then acquitted the leftist.

PS: Screw the homo pedophile cult and screw the gimme money evangelical cult.

Time to forsake the assembly.

Translation:

Mark Galli wants fanatical partisan Democrat atheist Federal "judges" to run every aspect of the lives of him and his fellow Christians.

Galli is advocating ceding the power of appointing Federal judges to the godless enemy Democrats.

Well, at least he got to the fifth paragraph before jumping in with the lies.

The narrative here is that the American people have no right to know if a (liberal) politician has used his office for personal profit. We must fight that narrative at every opportunity. By all appearances, Joe Biden used his office to enrich his son. Do we not have a right to know the details of such apparent corruption? Especially if the corruption was committed by a candidate for president?

I'd suggest that if DemocRATs don't want their candidates investigated for corruption that is public knowledge, they should refrain from running such candidates. But they probably don't have any candidates who are not corrupt.

No he did not. That's a lie. And lying, or bearing false witness in not Christian.

Re-read the article or maybe just read it for once. Billy Graham did not write the article he cannot he is dead. His son had nothing to do with it either nor did Samaritans Purse. So why are you dropping your donation?

Billy Graham died last year. He helped start Christianity Today in 1956 - I don't think he had much, if anything, to do with it for some years. His son, Franklin Graham, carries on most of his father's work, and is a huge Trump supporter.
