Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell set the stage Thursday for a potentially bruising fight between the leadership of the two chambers over impeachment, as he tore into Nancy Pelosi for shoddy work and said Democrats may be too afraid to send the articles to the Senate after the House speaker abruptly held off on transmitting them.
This particular House of Representatives has let its partisan rage at this particular president create a toxic new precedent that will echo well into the future, McConnell said on the floor, accusing Democrats of giving in to "temptation" with their impeachment vote while challenging their handling of the articles in the aftermath.

Yes he has
The Speedy Trial Clause of the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that “[i]n all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy trial”[1]
The Clause protects the defendant from delay between the presentation of the indictment or similar charging instrument and the beginning of trial.
Thanks...hey he’s rounding the bases like a turtle. I hope approaching 3rd, he doesn’t wander into left field. Go Mitch, go!
Will do.
Done
Impeachmentus interruptus.
Great point. Nanzi the control freak. The Senate is part of Congress so she should be charged with Obstruction of Congress.
Pretty much like a hungry snapping turtle in a pond chasing a tasty fish. Now we know why he’s called the “Murder Turtle.”
So, in that regard, I agree with you that Trump shouldn't be bothering with the other two branches. For example, getting a court injunction issued against the shampeachment in order to settle this dispute between the respective parties.
However, since the House has decided to utilize such novel and extreme interpretations of the impeachment clause, it stands to reason that the other two branches are likewise free to pursue whatever 'odd' measure of leverage they can achieve.
I guess the real - admittedly obscure - point I was trying to make is now that the House has crossed the Rubicon and pissed away 230 years of precedent by issuing highly partisan and purely political articles without any true legal (court) involvement (unlike Nixon & Clinton), how is the genie going to be put back in the bottle?
Sounds like Pelosi is guilty of Obstruction of Congressional Business for the people. Keep digging Nancy.t
Yep, keep digging the hole Nervous Nancy.
I have to believe Shifty and Nads are interested.
After listening to her attempt to string a sentence together, I suspect she doesn't even know her own name.
Nancy will hold these articles for years then, always threatening “Just need a Majority in the Senate and these impeachment articles will go through.
___
Isn’t there a case that if the impeachment isnt sent to the senate its not completed, therefore not legtimate?
I checked out a few of my lefty friends FB and Twiter accounts today, not one of them has give their own thoughts on the vote and subsequent delay, they all lined to various NYT, WaPo, CNN, etc. articles and basically said, “read this.”
A far cry from their previous orange man bad rants they gave , right up until Nancy gave her speech back in late Sept.
This speech today was one for the ages.
I fail to see the problem here. Who cares if she sits on these articles forever? Its obvious she has lost control of the House. If this thing gets to trial all sorts of chicanery will be exposed. We win no matter what. Cant wait to see Schifty under oath. They have to stop this to protect Schifty, if nothing else.
I agree. As I said, let her twist in the wind.
Trial or no trial, the rats lose.
“Why did the democrats rush this is a more appropriate question.”
the Rats’ lesser god BJ Clinton was impeached 21 years ago today....
