Republicans had plenty to say about the Democrats' "unfair" impeachment process on Wednesday during the House debate on two articles of impeachment, but Rep. Debbie Lesko's (R-AZ) take was a bit louder and a bit more personal. The congresswoman absolutely tore into her Democratic colleagues over what she called a partisan, unprecedented vendetta against President Trump.
Rep. Debbie Lesko Sounds Off on Democrats and Impeachment Process
"About 30 years ago, I was married to an abusive ex-husband," Lesko began. "And when I finally left him, there were times in my life I had no money and no place to live. And I tell you what; I never dreamed in a million years that I would be standing here today as a congresswoman in the United States House of Representatives. And I tell you what; I never would have believed that I would be standing here talking about impeachment of a president of the United States."
The congresswoman said she had spent hours reading transcripts and hearing testimony during the impeachment inquiry against President Trump, to no avail.
"And I can tell you one thing; I believe this is the most unfair, politically biased, rigged process that I have seen in my entire life."
Then she raised her voice.
"There is no proof - none! - that the president has committed an impeachable offense," she continued. "Not one of the Democratic witnesses - not one! - was able to establish that the president committed bribery, treason, or high crimes and misdemeanors as required in the U.S. Constitution."
She sighed when asking why several Democrats spoke of impeachment before Trump's call with Ukrainian President Zelensky even took place in July. Also, what was the deal with the impeachment process going through the Intelligence committee, where Judiciary panelists couldn't even ask questions of the witnesses in closed-door hearings?
"This is a sad day," she said. "I think the Democrats are tearing this country apart. They're tearing families apart."
The actual votes on the articles of impeachment, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, are expected to take place between 7 and 8 p.m. tonight, following hours of debate.
Good speech
Love her
Love her
Way to go, Debbie.
You go girl! Tell it like it is!
Great speech!
I know they are. May they rot in hell for it!
Thanks for posting. After a long day, all I wanted to do tonight when I got home was to turn on one of my favorite evening shows, Wheel of Fortune. My mom and I watched that show together nearly every day, for years and years, even though we were hundreds of miles apart. I would call her on the phone and we would try to solve the puzzle over the phone. Mom passed 2 years ago, but its still one of my favorite shows and memories of time we spent together.
Wouldnt you know it, I turned on the tv, and NBC pre-emptied WOF for the impeachment baloney. There was stupid Steny Hoyer talking and saying that Trump had every opportunity to prove his innocence! Wow! What a great new standard for American citizens! Guilty until you prove your innocence! I changed the channel immediately. Watching whatever is on HGTV instead.
The Dems are doing a good job of making me so repulsed by them. Im trying to figure out how I can participate and screw them over. Maybe Ill switch to being Democrat for this election so that they can see when I vote for Trump. I know, thats not nearly enough.
Yep- happened to be watching when she gave it...the Repubs laced their comments with facts and the Dems used platitudes to try to hide they had/have no useful facts to go with.
