Actually after finding them, they shouldn’t be found again. Anywhere.

This is horrifying.

Plus there’s someone out there who’s willing to kill horses without any problem.

I can’t imagine humans are far behind

Who owned the horses? Were they strays? The article says that the horses were all killed and contradicts itself later.

“A battlefield?” Were the horses armed?

I am trying to find some more detailed local information on this. Not having any luck. Every story is almost identical wording. Journalism is now picking something up off the wire and reprinting it.

https://www.npr.org/2019/12/18/789369656/act-of-evil-15-horses-were-shot-after-being-hunted-in-rural-kentucky

Describing the carnage, Goble says a yearling had been shot in the face. Other horses had clearly struggled and suffered before dying. It was a stark change from the normal scene there, she says, as people regularly visited the horses to bring them hay or other food during the winter months, when foraging can be difficult.

“Some of them were friendly,” Goble says of the horses, “and you could go up there and they’d walk right up to you.”

The animal worshipers are the animal abusers. I’ll “mansplain” that for y’all and give you the opportunity to learn something.

A few decades ago, there were no wild horses. Do you know why there are so many wild horses now? I’ll tell you anyway.

Because daddy or mommy and his or her little girl long ago neglected her horse, which is cruelty. The horse wasn’t like the trouble-free horse in the Disney shows. The horse required feeding, exercise, and other care and maintenance. Meanwhile, other Disney girls grew up to be the new, extremely expensive veterinarians, further inhibiting proper care of livestock and other animals.

So eventually, the horses were abandoned by the animal worshipers, who were cruel. And there they are, horses trying to survive by themselves without the animal husbandry originally mandated nearly 6,000 years ago.

I’ll add that cruelty to animals is wrong. There’s no good reason for it. Idolators of the distant past sliced steaks from live animals and kept them alive—very bad (because, following idolators)!

But properly euthanizing animals is not cruel, including actions to do so with properly placed bullets (brain). Neither is getting rid of pests that spread diseases to humans, including colonies of feral animals that were pets. People who feed colonies of feral pests are cruel.

If someone was cruel to those horses, yes. It should be regarded as an offense. But the punishment shouldn’t resemble a punishment for murdering people. It should be a misdemeanor and no more.

Or, they should shoot the stupid sons of bitches who complained about selling the meat when horses have to be culled and then legislated it so.

I have no feeling for cretins who would go and shoot up 15 horses for no reason. I think the same thing should happen to the perp, and then throw their utterly worthless carcass down the mine, into eternal oblivion. This is so disgusting, and there is absolutely no excuse anyone could offer which would suffice. Poor things.

Some highlights for freepers who adhere to FR Rule #1, “never read the article”:

“free-roaming horses.”

“The horses were found in the area of a rehabilitated strip mine near Floyd County’s border with neighboring Pike County. For years, locals say, as many as 30 or more horses have roamed the rough and isolated terrain there.”

“Megan Goble lives near the site. Her family owns part of the land that has become home to the horses. She says the horses lived in two main herds, and she describes them as a mix of animals that were brought there by their owners and those that were born in the secluded area.”

“There’s a lot of people within our community that go up there and feed them or just go see them or whatever, because, I mean, it’s beautiful back there and it’s a bunch of horses running,” Goble says.”
