Mayor Pete Blasts Hallmark Channel for Pulling Kissing Lesbians Commercial
Townhall.com ^ | DEcember 17, 2019 | Todd Starnes

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is blasting the Hallmark Channel's decision to pull four television commercials that featured a lesbian couple kissing.

“Families are built on love—no matter what they look like,” Buttigieg, the first openly gay presidential candidate, tweeted Sunday. “Being ‘family friendly’ means honoring love, not censoring difference."

In other words, "wholesome" Mayor Pete believes the reason for the season is forcing children to watch lesbians making out on the Hallmark Channel.

“This truth will be more important than ever as we rebuild our nation into a place defined by belonging, not by exclusion,” he wrote.

The commercials featured two brides standing at the altar wondering if their same-sex wedding would have been smoother had they used Zola, a wedding planning site. The ad concludes with the women sharing a quick kiss.

One Million Moms, a division of American Family Association, launched a petition drive blasting the family-friendly network’s decision to broadcast the ads.

"Shame on Hallmark for airing commercials with same-sex couples and even considering movies with LGBT content and lead characters," the organization declared in a prepared statement. "Until recently, Hallmark had a good record for keeping their movies and commercials family friendly. Now, parents can no longer trust Hallmark because Hallmark is no longer allowing parents to be the primary educators when it comes to sex and sexual morality."

Thousands of concerned viewers signed the petition, leading Hallmark to backtrack and eventually pull the ads.

“The debate surrounding these commercials on all sides was distracting from the purpose of our network, which is to provide entertainment value,” Hallmark spokesperson Molly Biwer told the Los Angeles Times.

The Hallmark Channel had already been facing criticism from the LGBT community for a lack of diversity in their Christmas movies. A number of activists have been calling for Hallmark to include more same-sex relationships and kisses.

The reality is the sex and gender revolutionaries want to indoctrinate your children -- whether they are watching the Hallmark Channel or the Disney Channel.

Many of the parents who call my radio program share their frustrations that so much of what is broadcast on network and cable television is not suitable for the entire family. That’s why so many folks who cherish traditional values love the Hallmark Channel.

So ease up, Mayor Pete. If parents want to expose their children to lesbians kissing they can watch Logo TV or Bravo.

The idiots at Hallmark shouldn’t have aired the ad in the first place.

Now they end up pleasing absolutely no one!

Viewers and shareholders for starters...

And I’m sure various industries, cable, advertising, content producers do.

While cowering under their beds.

You said it perfectly.

Much the same for me.

Thing is, I have always viewed homosexuality as a sexual peccadillo, but what has been going on with the militant and forced normalization of it has radicalized me to a degree as well.

Hallmark should have said that same sex marriage legal or not, they support traditional values and will not be airing this or any similar ad, and will only depict traditional relationships. Hallmark needs to learn who actually watches their drippy movies and who just calls to complain.

I tell the story sometimes about my friend in high school in the 70’s who’s father become sexually “confused”. He was a rich dentist with a big house who suddenly was having these big parties full of queers. I’d get kicked out of most of the parties because I’d wait until they were all drunk and then I’d say “Let me get this right, you stick you thing up his butt then at some point he puts it in his mouth, so you eat $hit”. That would get me thrown out of the party.

I was 15-16 years old and these guys would all try to get me in situations where they could mess with me. That never worked, once one grabbed me in a place he should not have so I chucked him in the pool. I was a big kid. That got me banned from that party.

I learned that overall they were a very sad and wretched lot, almost to a person very self-loathing. Some were normal acting, some flaming fags and I learned the guys that dressed up in leather were not to be messed with.

I did listen to them. Especially the ones that were involved in the early organizations who were like Act Up and wanted to “mainstream” homosexuality. They were very clear that they were going to get jobs in media. TV, newspapers and anywhere else they could start to demand that their lifestyles be considered normal. They had plans, they have implemented those plans over decades now and they have succeeded. They have changed things dramatically.

There are a couple of things they have not changed. One is how my “you eat $hit” joke works. Their Achilles heel is that it’s a natural thing for heterosexual men to be repulsed when they see the physical acts of homosexual men. The other is that the African American community does not like homosexuality. Well, I guess there is the third thing, the Bible.

Personally? I’m going to do and say whatever what I want to. I will say whatever I want in any setting I am in. For example, I have been saying “I am a conservative and a Trump supporter” since day one. At first some folks didn’t like that. After awhile that changed. In the past year even my African-American friends have come around to Trump. I have a lot of A-A friends.

Prediction? Soon, other than the super blue urban enclaves, this country is going to move the other direction on many topics. People are getting tired of the queer folk and the environmental nutcases and people like that poor badly born Greta chick are weighing slim on a lot of people. There are more of us than them.

Hallmark people (and their advertisers) can do whatever they want privately in their homes, but the SECOND they do it in MY home on MY TV, they have a problem.

So, Call 1-800-HALLMARK (800-425-5627) and be nice.

I remember when you did not hear cursing in the movies or on tv (cable). Now it’s prolific and all the kids are cursing.

So, to follow that vein of reasoning...

This is a tempest in a tea cup. Hallmark would have been best served to leave it alone. Since they did attempt to make a stand, sticking with it would have been best. Now, Hallmark has irritated almost everyone involved.

Also, Hallmark should know it’s audience. Playing almost nothing but syrupy romantic Christmas programs is going to draw what sort of audience? I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that the LGBTQ crowd isn’t enthralled with the whole Christmas tradition and hetero romances.

And now, Mayor Pete decides to wade into this. I’m guessing his handlers know this is an issue close to ol’ Petey’s heart, and it seems benign. Ha. Mayor Pete is going to take damage he didn’t have to take. I’m enjoying this.

Simple Solution, play this before and after the show and maybe some cuts during the commercials:

I heard that Deck The Halls is on the no-no list, because it has the line, “Don we now our gay apparel.”

Why are the minority queers allowed to dictate culture to the majority straights?

A man who makes the erroneous decision to have other men as sexual partners cannot be depended on to make good decisions in other matters.

There is no escaping pro-gay commercials. This morning there was one on the Golf Channel about a woman whose son “was fired for being gay”. I’m seeing pro-gay commercials on pretty much every channel now. Hallmark should not have called attention to themselves by pulling the ad. Now they are bitches to the gay lobby as they scramble to appease them.

People like Buttigieg have radicalized me. I’ve went from a live and let live kinda guy to despising sickos insisting that I live in some kind of 24x7 gay pride parade.

Me too. For them, it's not enough to leave them alone, don't harass them, etc. It's now a demand to believe as they do, use their stupid pronouns, forbidden from having an opinion that differs.

F 'em.

With all due respect, have you contacted Hallmark?

viewers@crownmedia.com

They are not gone...YET...

If people want it gone, it is guaranteed gone if no one takes next step...Just my opinion, forums are great for spreading information, but what is the point if people don’t take the next step?

If want to try to salvage it, need to DO something. Same is true of anything that one considers important...

It is the holidays, everyone is busy. The easiest thing is to sign the Million-Mom or Lifesite petitions which have been mentioned over the past couple weeks.

If everyone does a little, the work is light...

Yesterday I called DirecTV and halved our cable bill. We want to ditch it all as soon as we line up some good alternative(s). There are so many ways to get service, but they’re all in different types of media, and willy-nilly all over the place. I wish there were a site that aggregates all the options and explains how each is used.

Cordcutters News is a good site for what you're looking for, MM.

https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/

Look under Beginners Guide to Cord Cutting to start.

We walked away from DirecTV about five years ago and substituted a roof-mounted antenna for over the air (OTA) local stations plus streaming services such as Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. We've since dropped Netflix and picked up a few others. To stream, we use both a Roku and an Amazon Fire Stick. I had only planned on using the Roku, but the cheapo TV in the bedroom won't work with it so we got the Fire Stick and it works well.

The most difficult thing to get used to is not being able to aimlessly flick through channel after channel other than the OTA channels and even with 30-some now, it's not all that much flicking. However, there is an immense amount of content out there for free and pay on the streaming side of things.

Free generally means ad-supported, but I don't mind the ads very much since there are generally fewer of them than on regular TV. Streaming services like Hulu and CBS All Access also have ad-supported subscriptions in addition to their full no ad services which can allow you to pay about half the full subscription price and therefore get more streaming services for your buck. So you can pay $11.99 for Hulu without ads which is certainly nice or for that same $11.99, you can instead get two streaming services by going with the ad-supported Hulu and CBS All Access subscriptions which are each $5.99. Streaming services can add up which makes this kind of mixing and matching helpful in finding a balance. Otherwise you may find yourself back where you started in terms of how much you're paying to watch things.

In terms of the antenna, if you're so inclined, you need to find where the stations are in your area in order to properly point the antenna. We got insanely lucky that our local stations are in the same spot as the DirecTV satellite (~238 degrees SW) which enabled us to remove the LNB from the satellite dish and mount the antenna on its arm. The place to find that out is TVFool.com (http://tvfool.com) where you follow the Click Here link to enter your address to see a coverage map of your local stations. That map can be saved for use on the OTA subreddit of reddit.com where some extremely helpful and giving folks will read the map and recommend the antenna(s) you can buy.

There's more, but that should get you going. I'm happy to answer what I can for you.
