Just in time for Trumps Battle Creek, MI Merry Christmas rally on Wed. Dec. 18th. Good point! I'm going to look for James to be brought up on stage at that rally.

GOP wrote off a couple of senators in 2016. One in IL and number two was an expected loss of Johnson to Feingold in a rematch in WI. No one expected Toomey to pull it out in PA either, he was never ahead in most polls. Trump winning both WI and PA more than likely saved both those seats. The same factors, other than James is not an incumbent should make the difference in MI this time.
