Schumer's opening pitch for the Senate impeachment trial
Axios ^ | December 15th, 2019 | Jonathan Swan

On Sunday night, Chuck Schumer made his opening bid to Mitch McConnell in the two leaders' negotiations over the Senate impeachment trial.

Driving the news: Schumer has sent a letter to McConnell in which he asks the Republican leader to call four witnesses who refused to testify before the House impeachment committees.

- The witnesses Schumer has asked for all have direct knowledge of Trump administration decisions concerning the holdup of aid to Ukraine and the requests for investigations of the Bidens and of the origins of the Russia investigation.

- They are: Mick Mulvaney, acting White House chief of staff; John Bolton, former national security adviser; Michael Duffey, associate director for national security, Office of Management and Budget; and Robert Blair, senior adviser to Mulvaney.

- Schumer also proposes that the Senate issue subpoenas "for a limited set of documents that we believe will shed additional light on the administration's decision-making regarding the delay in security assistance funding to Ukraine and its requests for certain investigations to be announced by the government of Ukraine," per the letter obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: The Senate Democratic leader's request — particularly his call for additional impeachment witnesses — may appeal to some moderate Republicans but is sure to meet forceful resistance from President Trump and McConnell.

Republicans should tell Schumer they agree, as long as Schiff and Nadless turn over communications and documentation that will show their coordination and coaching of witnesses, and their conspiracy to prevent Republicans and Trump from participating in the investigation. If Trump has no expectation of executive privilege, why should congress have an expectation of privacy?

The repubs had better not let the democrats breach executive privilege without direct evidence of a crime, which they do not have. Otherwise there is no such thing as executive privilege ever again. If mcconnel allows this he is playing for the other side.

I’m no familiar with who takes the proceedural ‘lead’ first....but the Dems always deceptively lie going in for any deal......Schumer’s Nancy’s first line worker bee...she gives the orders he delegates the details where needed.

Chief Justice Roberts will make rulings on executive privilege and evidentiary issues. House Managers will present the prosecutorial case. Trump and his counsel will present his defense. The turtle will keep order. Chuck will have a ring-side seat and a right to shoot his mouth off, and nothing else that any other Senator has in the same measure.

Dear Chuck the Schmuck.

produce the THREE Bidens.

Include Joe’s bother who made a billion or two off or Iraq reconstruction deals when he, like Biden’s crackhead son who had no energy background, Biden’s brother had NO BACKGROUND in Construction.

Oh yeah, Chuck, PRODUCE THE so called “whistleblower” and tell him to bring his pay stubs for the last FORTY FREAKING YEARS so we can see how often he worked for Schiff and anyone else involved in this scam.
