MR. BAKER: Could you tell us where exactly you disagree with Mr. Horowitz?
MR. BARR: I think there are three parts or issues, lets say categories of analysis in the report. The first is, was the investigation adequately predicated, the start of it? The second one is, how was it conducted? And I break that down into two things: How was it conducted before the election and how was it conducted after the election? The real meat of Horowitzs work, and the real thrust of the report actually deals with the conduct of the investigation, where I think it quickly became apparent that it was a travesty.
MR. BAKER: The abuses? I want to come onto these in detail, but the abuses that in particular refer to the application for the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court
MR. BARR: And also the fact that from day one it generated exculpatory information and nothing that substantiated any kind of collusion. But put that aside for a minute, going back to the issue. In many ways the issue of whether it was adequately predicated is something of academic interest only.
I think that its a big deal to use the law enforcement and the intelligence resources of the United States government to investigate a campaign of especially an opposing party. Im sure there were instances in the past, but I cant think of any recent instance where that was done.
MR. BAKER: The report does make clear there were concerns about that and discussions at very high levels within the FBI as to the sensitive information
MR. BARR: What is the basis you have for looking into something? And what are reasonable steps to take, taking into consideration the weight of the evidence thats prompting you to do that

No Chit Sherlock.
Travesty?
It was and is sedition.
Lois Lerner, Hillary Clinton, Blumenthal, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch...all the way up to the white house. The Obama administration radicalized and weaponized alphabet agencies in the executive against political adversaries.
Eric Holder is a weasel. This guy was deputy atty general under Janet “Waco baby killer” Reno and brain child of Fast/Furious where they attempted to frame legal gun dealers in the U.S. under the guise of attempting to take down cartels.
Stunning the corruption in our government...absolutely stunning!
Obama is responsible. The only question is whether he will be held accountable.
He won’t.
There is a great disconnect in this that the morons in the media either can’t pick up or won’t pick up.
Dan Bongino nails it.
If you really want to understand what happened in FISAGate and SPYGate, you need to listen to Dan Bongino.
Dan nails it with a timeline on the evidence. He shows why Horowitz didn’t get the picture and why Durham has the bigger picture. Horowitz could not have known what Durham knows.
The test messages concerning George Papadopoulos and Alexander Downer and the meeting with Mifsud, and all of that, AND the text messages between Strzok and Lisa Page were all DATED in early MAY 2016.
Horowitz only reviewed emails and messages after May 31, 2016.
Horowitz did not see the bias but Durham did.
So Horowitz is off the hook but my question for him is why did he allow himself to only see evidence after May 31, 2016?
The answer is related to the FISA events kick off in late June 2016.
Still, Horowitz could have gone much further back unless there is some sort of regulation that prohibits him from doing so. I don’t believe there is. So it’s still an open question.
But Bongino fills in the information gap with the following connection of facts.
Bad actors in the DOJ and FBI were ignoring the Papadopoulos attempted entrapment (recall they tried to frame him by planting $10,000 on him that would be discovered undeclared when he returned from Europe and went through US Customs). They were thinking to get Russian collusion evidence on Papadopoulos and somehow tie it to Carter Page because Papadop and Page both worked for the Trump Campaign. So these Deep state aholes ignored and left the Papadopoulos angle and they turned to pushing the Steele Dossier as the document they needed for FISA. But the Steele Dossier was becoming problematic so they went back to the Papadopoulos case as an ‘insurance’ policy and said this allowed FISA to oissue a warrant on Page because whatever.
These people are stupid. Note that it was recently revealed Stephen Halper is a meth addict. Can you say ‘controlled asset’?
Horowitz never saw what was happening behind the scenes before June 2016. He didn’t see anything related to Papadopoulos or Strzok or any of that. But in my view he could have if he had gone back to audit a little further. He needs to be asked what limited him to looking only at evidence dated after May 31, 2016.
Because no one admitted to political bias, doesn't mean that there wasn't any, in fact, only an idiot could read {even the executive summary} and not come to the conclusion that it was not only bias, it was a plot to engage in a coup.
How to spot ‘bias’...
Did they do any of this same spying on ANY democrats?
the word is not sedition, the word is seditious conspiracy.
Seditious conspiracy is all encompassing
All encompassing includes Obama
I like AG Barr, I really do, but:
Accountability when, AG Barr?
People going to trial and prison when, AG Barr?
The Clinton Administration was bad enough, but they were just pikers compared to Barry. Clinton gets away with Livingstones 900 FBI files and limited abuse of the IRS, which Barry rightly interprets as a license to weaponize the entire Federal Government. If the Democrats and their DS enablers get away with this, whats in store for us under the next Democrat regime?
“Accountability when, AG Barr?
People going to trial and prison when, AG Barr?”
There are so many ducks, it takes time to line them all up.
Let Durham do his job - Barr is dotting the “i’s” and crossing the “t’s”.
His statements are prepping folks for what he thinks will be found.
There are two possible approaches: The Adam Schiff method or the way that AG Barr is following. Barr is following the law and is the preferable process, in my opinion.
First thing that needs to be done — and I think Barr will be doing it soon — is charge every identifiable FBI employee who engaged in the alteration or falsification of documents put before the FISA court.
They’re certainly laying the groundwork for announcing charges. Right around election time we should have a guilty plea or 2. A year after that the trials should begin.
I actually like what Horowitz did - his team did a pretty meticulous examination of the FISA application and the Steele dossier (both it’s sources and it’s use by the FBI). The Horowitz report thoroughly destroys huge portions of the FBI/MSM story-line - and it doesn’t leave much, if any, wiggle room for the perps.
Exactly. The folks expressing their faith must live on a different world than I have spent fifty years in. Normally these scandals result in no one even getting a reprimand when some people deserve a firing squad.
They will wring their hands and talk it up, but at the end of the day they will do nothing. Ultimately, they never give up hope of profiting politically, and worry about the political cost of an actual prosecution.
All governments are corrupt. Every single one on the planet. It is the nature of the beast. Oh, it may have a nice name or fancy wrapper like, United States instead of it’s real name. Imprisoned States. And it may start on a non corrupt footing, like for example the American Colonies, but eventually the true nature of the beast comes forth.
“His statements are prepping folks for what he thinks will be found.”
They’ve already found #SpyGate but AG Barr makes clear the standard of evidence required and the time required to collect it.
This is not one person who went afoul of the law.
Wish the full WSJ article was available.
The anti-Trump conspirators know how IG investigations work. They structure their operations to exploit the gaps and the literal-minded, small-picture nonsense the IG’s focus upon. But willful blindness is the only explanation for pretending to evaluate the “predicate” without starting at the beginning (i.e., Trump starting to run).
To balance for ignoring the beginning, Horowitz stopped short of evaluating the RESULTS. He has stated that he did not review anything but Russia-related material. So was non-Russia spying the bulk of it? What was done with it? Who was it reported to? Was the “two hop rule” in play or not? Who was surveilled that way? It’s impossible to conclude that the FISA spying was political if you fail to analyze everything collected. Horowitz investigated the hot dog and ignored the bun.
