Judicial Watch sued the Department of Justice for records about former Democratic cybersecurity aide Imran Awan in order to square evidence of wrongdoing with prosecutors decision not to charge malpractices on Capitol Hill.
The DOJ said it could not produce records under FOIA because of technical difficulties, then said it was actually because of a secret case it had not wanted to mention, according to a court filing.
The Department of Justice is withholding documents about the Imran Awan cybersecurity scandal by saying there is an ongoing, secret case related to matter, according to court papers.
Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit Nov. 7, 2018, for 7,000 pages of Capitol Police records related to the cybersecurity investigation, and Aug. 2, the DOJ agreed to begin producing records by Nov. 5.
That deadline came and went with no records being produced; on a Nov. 13 phone call, the DOJ said technical difficulties had resulted in a delay, Judicial Watch stated in a court filing.
The DOJ later changed its story and said it was actually withholding documents pursuant to an Order issued by the Honorable Tanya S. Chutkan who is presiding over a related sealed criminal matter, prosecutors said in a Dec. 5 filing. (RELATED: Fifteen Things To Know About Pakistani Mystery Man Imran Awan)
The difficulties in providing responsive material was [sic] due to the unexpected and unique set of facts described above that was out of control of the Defendant. Defendants only motivation was to maintain the integrity of the sealed matter as much as possible, assistant U.S. Attorney Benton Peterson said in the filing.
Awans attorney, Chris Gowen, did not respond to a request for information about any ongoing case.

Barr needs to be way more active in draining the DoJustUs.
Are there Obama Court Documents?
Traitor Roberts needs to tell us.
Betcha if we had 5% of the number of imbeds as the SWAMP has in DC, this ‘missing/lost/sequestered’ info would be splashed on billboards from sea to shining sea before sunrise.
Awan was at the heart of a major cyber security surveillance and security breach in the House. Democrat members were extremely uncooperative in the subsequent investigation and protective of the Awans. The DOJ may be hiding Deep State/Rat corruption that extends from DC to Pakistan.
due to the unexpected and unique set of facts
That the FBI is compromised and complicit.
Waterboard blabbermouth. She knows.
The Durham grand jury.
DEEP STATE goes clear to HELL
No more DOJ/eep State BS. The judge needs to give the government a hard and fast deadline with the ultimatum that failure to comply will result in a criminal contempt ruling against the government.

he kinda fell off the map thru all this too
Barr has an impossible task. Near everybody inside the DOJ building hates Trump with a white hot passion and has the green light from the Uniparty to obstruct. FOIA will grind to halt as the Deep State tries to punt everything over the November 2020 goal line.
Has the DOJ person who told the first lie been charge with any crime yet?!?!
I thought not.
The FBI and DOJ swept everything that implicated or embarrassed the Dems in the lead up to the 2016 election under the rug.
The Awan scandal, swept away - no jail time.
The Clinton email scandal - swept away.
The DNC hack - FBI and Intel went along with the claim Russia hacked it without ever examining the server.
Even the Seth Rich murder investigation languishes.
The media went along with all of it unquestioningly.
So much more. They were in the middle of colluding and conspiring to derail the Trump nomination, the Trump candidacy, and doing all they could to anoint Hillary as POTUS even rigging a FISC court warrant application.
Awans walked free for bank fraud, stealing, and possibly espionage while Papadopoulos went to prison for a small fib. Manafort went to prison. Flynn got indicted for nothing - he was entrapped and denied due process. They went after Trump and Trump team with a vengeance and let Hillary and Dem associated people skate, granted immunity, even let government employee witnesses and suspects act as “attorneys” for those being investigated.
Trump can have them fired. One by one. He would have fired over 900 if he fired one a day. The cost of suits by those fired would be less than all the money spent on Meuller and impeachment. Ask any Bean Counter!
