Trump considering skipping general election debates in 2020: report
The Hill ^ | 12 12 2019 | Marty Johnson

President Trump has been discussing with his campaign advisers whether or not to participate in the general election debates in 2020, two people close to the situation told The New York Times.

According to the sources, Trump doesn't trust the Commission on Presidential Debates, the nonprofit organization that puts on the debates. Specifically, Trump is apprehensive of who will be chosen by the organization to moderate the debates, the Times reports.

Trump's campaign reportedly declined to comment on what their plan was for the debates at a state-of-the-race campaign briefing in Arlington, Va.

During the 2016 campaign, the president persistently complained about his debates with former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, claiming that he was put at a disadvantage.

I like that too.

Just state a topic like Immigration and let them talk back and forth to each other.

These debates where responses are timed are pointless and boring.

Let's turn it into a free-for-all. No holds barred. Let them shout over each other if the passion moves them.

“I would advise him to go into them and channel his inner Mitt Romney, just sound and act as reasonable and bland as possible. “

Perfect! Advise Trump to be just like Mitt Romney!

Let Hannity and Levin moderate one

Agree. No debates at all would be spun against POTUS.

If Levin hosted, the Dem candidate could spend half the debate quoting Levin’s voluminous anti-Trump rhetoric from the past.

My sources in the Democrat party tell me this is how it went down.

Hillary: Donna, I’ll need to see the questions before the next debate.
Donna Brazile: Hills, you know you’re my girl. But that would be unethical.

Hillary: It would be a real shame if you have a fatal accident next week.
Donna Brazil: Ah...here ya go. Sorry for the delay.

Oh heavens what would we do without the political porno, missing out on all the presstutites heavy petting and the pimps of punditry to tell us what we just saw - [Insert Democrat Nominee Here] won and how this really damaged Trump and how he can't possible get to 1247 err 274 now.

He takes away a revenue stream and all this smut if he says no. I however enjoy these things but I am a deviant and he is awesome to watch

In 1964, Johnson refused to debate Goldwater because that would have given Goldwater both a platform and legitimacy. Johnson was so far ahead in the polls that he didn't even mention Goldwater's name in his campaign speeches.

In 1968, neither party wanted debates because it would have given Wallace legitimacy and an edge. Both parties feared he could throw the election into the House and set the civil rights movement back a generation.

In 1972, Nixon refused to debate McGovern for the same reasons that Johnson refused to debate Goldwater in 1964.

“I’m not voting for Donald Trump. Period. … These bully, dirty tricks, Nixonian tactics, they’re only going to backfire. So, count me as never Trump.”

Mark Levin April 2016

“There’s been too much of this folks, way too much of this,” Levin said. “The crap in the National Enquirer against Ted Cruz, the attacks on Michelle Fields, I mean, I can go right through the list, too much, too much, too much. At some point, you’ve got to stand up to it.”

If Hillary is their nominee again, trump should run her fainting video and her convulsing video and her coughing video . . . how bad does it get?

From the Washington Times, August 31, 2016

Radio host Mark Levin took to the airwaves on Tuesday night to rebut a rant by Fox News’ Sean Hannity against the “Never Trump” movement.
Millions of listeners who tuned in for “The Mark Levin” heard the host rhetorically hammer Mr. Hannity’s assertion that “the Jonah Goldberg class” will be to blame if Hillary Clinton is elected the next U.S. president. Mr. Levin was careful not to mention the Fox News star by name, but left no doubt who he was talking about.

” ‘If only the #NeverTrumpers, if only Jonah Goldberg and Bill Kristol and Glenn Beck and this one and that one, if only they’d get behind Trump, then we’d be winning! Then we’d win big time! Oh yes!’ No we wouldn’t,” said Mr. Levin, Mediaite reported Tuesday. “As popular as many of those men and women are, they’re not going to sway anybody one way or another. This is a presidential election. People make up their own minds. […] You’re going to vote your conscience. That’s a statement of fact. […] Maybe Trump will win. Maybe Hillary will be stopped — but we nominated the wrong person.”

Great idea. Tell the media that it is a proven fact that they are all cheats and liars and in the tank for the DNC . All he has to say is 2 words - Donna Shilala as proof. Tell them that if they want a debate, there will be 2, it will be moderated by Rush Limbaugh and only Rush Limbaugh. If the media doesn’t like it, they can pound sand, but leave them a warning that if they of any Internet group or person deliberately try’s to inter fear with the election, 2nd admendment or not, they will be thrown in jail and left there until Trump leaves office, be it January 22nd 2021 or 2025
