BREAKING: Trump Wins His First State — Judge Rules South Carolina Can Cancel Its 2020 Primary

On Wednesday, the South Carolina Republican Party’s conclusion to not hold a 2020 Presidential primary has been confirmed and upheld.

This will make it even more difficult for less prominent candidates who are pushing to win against Trump.

The resolution was upheld by Circuit Judge Jocelyn Newman, who said the law “does not give Plaintiffs a legal right to a presidential preference primary, and the Court will not substitute its own judgment for that of the General Assembly or the SCGOP.”

Bob Inglis, former South Carolina congressmen sued state Republicans, claiming this decision to skip the primary, strips him and other likely candidates “of the ability to vote for the candidate of their choice in South Carolina’s famous (and particularly influential) ‘First in the South’ primary.”

More from NBC News:

South Carolina is among several states that have canceled Republican primaries and caucuses next year, an effort that helps Trump consolidate his support as Democrats work to winnow their large candidate field. The move, taken September in South Carolina by the state party’s executive committee, is not unusual for the party of the White House incumbent seeking reelection.

Challengers have emerged to Trump, including former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld and former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh. Mark Sanford, a former congressman and governor from South Carolina, entered the race but left after two months.

“Progressive Era reformers looked to the primary election as a way to measure popular opinion of candidates, as opposed to the opinion of the bosses.”

“Florida enacted the first presidential primary in 1901. The Wisconsin direct open primary of 1905 was the first to eliminate the caucus and mandate direct selection of national convention delegates. In 1910, Oregon became the first state to establish a presidential preference primary, which requires delegates to the National Convention to support the winner of the primary at the convention. By 1912, twelve states either selected delegates in primaries, used a preferential primary, or both. By 1920 there were 20 states with primaries, but some went back, and from 1936 to 1968, 12 states used them.”

“The Dims will use the lack of GOP primaries, from all the states where that happens, against Trump in the general election.”

The Dims have been attacking Trump every day for years - it must be useful for raising money.

Trump is simply the best ally in DC most American workers have.

I can assure you some “real flake” will be the Democratic candidate.

Don’t waste your time voting in any Democratic primary contest. It’s also something that isn’t proper to do.

OK I read it. It’s still a stupid, undemocratic idea and the law behind it is stupid. I don’t like coronations, period, so please feel free to shove it.

Trump did not decide this. Not his decision.

Does anyone know what other states have suspended their R primaries?

I remember Ronna McDaniels stating that the Republican party would not entertain any challengers to Trump.

So they were warned.

I never suggested it was Trump’s decision.

I have suggested, that when it gets down to the general election, too many of such things will not do Trump any favors.

Oh yes, we have to be proper now don't we. We are totally in this fighting for our free-living way of life and you're worried about "proper". Good grief - you're the kind of Republican that got us into this kind of mess. People like you are the problem. No balls to fight the enemy.

What is Trump afraid of????

Trump has nothing to do with this.

It's a call by the SC Republican Party which is legal.

Well, then what does "What is Trump afraid of?", which you said, mean?
