They are sure going to try. Look at their plans for Virginia gun control early next year, for example. They intend to have a Leftist dictatorship and do whatever it takes to subjugate or eliminate the opposition.
The best thing for the whole country would be the complete abandonment of the Democrat party. Vote out of office every Democrat, every liberal, (Republican or otherwise), every so-called Progressive, and every senator or representative who does not support the United States of America. And elect to represent America, men and women who believe in this country.

That would send a resounding message to politicians to get with the program, or go some place where they will be happy, because they obviously are not happy in the USA, and we'd all be better off without them.

To the contrary, the Democrats have already committed Hari-Kari. I predict many Democrats will leave their party in 2020. Probably most become independents, but a bunch will choose the Republican Party. It behooves those of us on FR to do all we can to encourage the move.
