Is Trump the Only Adult in the Room?
Townhall.com ^ | December 12, 2019 | Victor Davis Hanson

Donald Trump certainly is mercurial at times. He can be uncouth.

But then again, no president in modern memory has been on the receiving end of such overwhelmingly negative media coverage and a three-year effort to abort his presidency, beginning the day after his election.

Do we remember the effort to subvert the Electoral College to prevent Trump from assuming office?

The first impeachment try during his initial week in office?

Attempts to remove Trump using the ossified Logan Act or the emoluments clause of the Constitution?

The idea of declaring Trump unhinged, subject to removal by invoking the 25th Amendment?

Special counsel Robert Mueller's 22-month, $35 million investigation, which failed to find Trump guilty of collusion with Russia in the 2016 election and failed to find actionable obstruction of justice pertaining to the non-crime of collusion?

The constant endeavors to subpoena Trump's tax returns and to investigate his family, lawyers and friends?

Now, frustrated Democrats plan to impeach Trump, even as they are scrambling to find the exact reasons why and how.

Most presidents might seem angry after three years of that. Yet in paradoxical fashion, Trump suddenly appears more composed than at any other time in his volatile presidency.

Ironically, Trump's opponents and enemies are the ones who have become publicly unhinged.

Leading Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden recently had a complete meltdown while campaigning in Iowa. Biden called a questioner who asked about his son Hunter's lucrative job with a Ukrainian energy company "a damn liar." An animated Biden also challenged the 83-year-old ex-Marine and retired farmer to a push-up contest or footrace.

You cannot share a country with people who are dangerously delusional or outright sociopathic. You just can’t do it.

Trump is having the time of his life and he’s happy, relaxed and confident.

For a man supposedly on political death row, he’s just letting the Democrats twist slowly in the wind.

The adult in the room, indeed.

Interesting insights. Maybe Trump thrives on opposition. If that's the case, the media are just feeding him what he wants.

Ironically, Trump's opponents and enemies are the ones who have become publicly unhinged.

Yes. That is evident.

You know better than that!

We have done that, precisely, for our whole existence as a country.

The difference now is we have been hoodwinked into allowing them to have control of the Government for the last 70 years, with the fraction that are dangerously delusional or outright sociopathic increasing (in fits and starts) over the entire period.

FDR was sociopathic,

Johnson was sociopathic, probably Kennedy as well.

Clinton was and is sociopathic.

Obama clearly was and is sociopathic.

Now, most of the Democratic leadership is sociopathic, and many in the Republican party are.

Hanson really nails it. President Trump often stands alone as the only adult in the room.

OK, so Trump is uncouth. Lyndon Johnson was even more uncouth. As for couth, I’ll take Trump over the Bush family any day. As a historian, I’ll take uncouth Jackson over the Adams family, and the uncouth Grant and Lincoln over the very couth Virginians of any century. I’ll take a man who splits rails over a man who splits hairs any day of the week.

VDH has become the most eloquent defender of Trump in the conservative media. This piece nails it.

It would appear that the dems shoved their noses in Trump’s shopping cart and now have pie on their faces.

If they had not jumped on the president’s phone call, the Bidens’ corruption would have been kept quiet. Now it is part of the impeachment spotlight.

That depends. Is Mike Pence in the room?

I have noted for a long time if the Democrats would have just accepted the results of the election then the corruption of the DOJ, CIA and the Media would have remained hidden from view.

The Mueller Report and the IG Report exposes the corruption by investigating Trump more then if President Trump asked for an investigation.

Hillary and Obama were behind the entire RUSSIAN hoax. If President Trump’s THANOS meme caused heads to explode, wait until he begins using quotes from the IG Report in campaign ads.

I couldn’t see the audience when Pelousy became unhinged on camera when asked if she hated PDT. But I did see the audience when Biden became unhinged. They were clapping like trained seals at his crazy statements. They should have been uncomfortable about being there. We have all these crazy people in positions of power because we have alot of crazy people supporting them.

No, but the Democrat Party has been commandeered by the spoiled brats of the men and women who made the USA the greatest, most just, richest, and most powerful nation in history.

This is the mob that burst onto the world scene in the 1960s chanting: Sex! Drugs! and Rock-and-roll!" and If it feels good, do it!" That's all they have to offer, but what they're really about is a crass grasp of POWER! Not for "justice," as they might claim, but POWER for its own sake!

We wondered what would happen when these spoiled brats seized serious POWER. Now we know.

"History is a staircase on which men in hobnail boots ascending pass men in velvet slippers descending."

When these spoiled brats sashayed onto the dance floor (well polished by the hard work and self-sacrifice of their forebears) back in the 1960s, it was an explosion into the open of the decadence of Western Civilization in America.

President Trump and his supporters believe that the USA has not yet passed the point of no return, that America can be yanked back from the brink of self-destructive, suicidal decadence and sent soaring once again into ascendency and unprecedented greatness.

Trump believed it firmly enough to risk EVERYTHING (quite a bit in his case) to save his BELOVED AMERICA and THE AMERICAN DREAM from destruction.

No other President has risked more, fought more valiantly for America, endured more vicious opposition, or prevailed more magnificently over his enemies--and all because of HIS LOVE OF THE USA.

The stakes are higher than ever before because Donald Trump has undertaken to rescue his BELOVED USA not only from evil, ambitious tyrants, but from tyrants preying on an America weakened by decadence and internal moral rot and decay, the destroyer of civilizations.

The USA has never been in greater danger.

They challenge to save America has never been more formidable or dangerous.

This is why DONALD TRUMP IS GREATEST PRESIDENT IN US HISTORY.

The dems and their media puppetmasters thought that if they could make Trump’s life a living hell he’d resign or the stress would induce a heart attack or stroke. They didn’t know that he was anywhere near as tough as he has turned out to be. This whole idea originated with the idea that they convinced themselves was true, that Trump really didn’t want to be president, he was just running to inhance his brand.

I am slightly older than President Trump and so have been aware of his existence for the greater part of my life and have held greatly varying opinions regarding him. At present my respect for him grows daily. Regardless of what the dims may think of him surely they realize by now that he is the Superman of politics, he does not play by the rules set in the past. Donald John Trump functions in an entirely different way.

I have known one other man who seems to play by Trump rules but he, while doing well financially and enjoying great health, is not a public figure by any means. I bumped into this man at a store recently and he told me that he had just had a complete physical exam and the doctor had told him that he expected him to live to be ninety. He cracked a smile and said that he had replied, “Thanks, doc but you are wrong, I’m gonna live to a hundred.”

Ever the plagiarist, Joe was channeling his inner "Give 'em Hell Harry Truman".

I sure hope he uses that quote from the California Democrat who predicted unending impeachment attempts if he's re-elected.
