I’ve said before that I take after George Orwell. Disinformation scares me more than bombs. As bad as they are, bombs don’t lie. They don’t make it impossible to tell truth from falsehood. They are trying to kill you.
But there’s one thing that scares me even more than that. It’s indifference. As bad as things are right now, as unpopular as this president is, I don’t think enough Americans are scared enough, or enraged enough. As bad as things are, I fear that most people, but especially middle-class white liberals, are not inspired nearly enough to care.

Who knows why. Perhaps it's because people's lives are now noticeably better than they were under an inept Obama. Maybe it's because unemployment rates for everyone is lower now than ever before in history. Maybe it's because people like someone who stands up for the US rather than grovel at their heels. Maybe it's because he lowered taxes for everyone and, like it or not, the rich do pay their fair share. In fact, the top 10% of income earners pay 72% of the tax collections. I say that everyone one at 17%, no deductions. That would be fair, right? After all, you Liberals always want equal treatment, so lets do that.

The author says he takes after George Orwell but Orwell came to realize that Stalinists in the West would forgive all sorts of horrors and freely cover them up in political debate.
