My home town of South Shield in the northeast of England last elected a Tory as its member of Parliament in 1834. Now the conservative Tory party is likely to make historic gains in the national elections on December 12. If that happens, it will be a testament to the rise of cultural identity and nationalism as a driving force in British politics. As has been the case in other countries, including the United States, it could mean rough waters ahead for believers in free markets.
The Brexit saga has pushed nationalism and regionalism to the fore in British politics, ahead of economics. The neoliberal consensus that has guided British economic policy for the past three decades is now deeply unpopular. Jeremy Corbyns Labour Party has issued a radical socialist economic manifesto that is popular across the country. Boris Johnsons Conservatives have countered with promises of more government spending and an industrial strategy to direct markets. Either would have been unthinkable in 2010. Today, the free market is under attack from all quarters.
Yet, Labours populist economic manifesto is unlikely to win votes. Instead, Labour might lose ground in its northern heartland, where the renationalization of industries favored by Corbyn is popular. Thats because swing voters chief concerns have shifted from economics to cultural identity. The northern Labour heartlands broke with Labour Party leaders and mostly voted Leave in the Brexit referendum. Voters there felt that the European Union had sucked away their opportunity and killed traditional industries like fishing, and resented how much wealth had gravitated to London. In many ways, they identify as much not-London as not-EU.

Is Britain a 'democracy' or not?
White indigenous people don’t matter to Leftists.
If you attempt to preserve the native culture and traditions it is “nationalist”. While everywhere else in the world there are set asides, protections, and government funding to do so.
[The British election will show the undeniable power of nationalism] == [the deep state is worried about this one]
Which side is the “nationalist’ side? Labour is full on open borders, replace the population with imports from the East and Africa. The Tories are for the same things, just with slightly lower tax rates. Sounds familiar.
I wonder if the election will show the bad side of nationalism as much as the flaming red “Hill” shows the bad side of globalism? Pretty hard to do, I’d think.
Get on the Memory Machine and go back to 1980. A number of months before Renaldus Magnus was elected here Margaret Thatcher won in GB. If Boris wins this one, as I hope and prey he does, it’s a great omen for OUR PRESIDENT TRUMP. God, how I totally love typing those great words, “OUR PRESIDENT TRUMP.” Renaldus Magnus and Donald Trump, our two greatest Presidents, second only to George Washington.
Britain is at a similar stage as the US was when we elected Trump. People are unhappy with the Establishment/Deep State, as represented in BOTH parties, and ready for an outsider.
They will know they’ve picked the right guy when ALL the UK media screams against him.
Unfortunately, they won’t really be leaving the EU.
The latest deal commits the UK to following EU regs, such as environmental restrictions and labor rules, so as not to gain an “unfair” advantage in their “separate” market.
An hour ago The telegraph was saying that the Tories’ lead has dropped to just a few points.
I believe the Telegraph is a Leftist newspaper.
By British standards it’s certainly not left wing.
It’s THE GUARDIAN that is full bore on stinking COMMIE LIBTARD.
The last poll I saw was the Tories winning by 28 seats, they have changed that now?
Perhaps Brits nationalism will shine through, however only as a last breath. Because the cancer they have innoculated themselves with is certainly malignant.
::...second only to George Washington.::

I always say that about our great POTUS. Washington has always been my favorite.
Forgive me for asking an off-topic question, but has anyone seen FReeper “snugs” ? A nice British lady and a strong conservative. I haven’t seen her in a long time.
It is, after all, cultural identity that has most been threatened by uncontrolled immigration and smothering political correctness. "You will not be British, you will be European" has been drilled into the British consciousness for long enough now to produce a sort of numbness, which was the intended effect, but little regard has been paid to what happens when the numbness wears off to reveal an underlying rage. It's a little surprising (and very revealing) that the avatars of Advanced Social Thought on the left haven't managed to notice what is happening under their very noses, there or here, most of whom regard this sort of pushback as retrograde resistance to the inevitable progress of history. That's a very dangerous assumption.
We note that within this - dare I call it "resistance"? - is contained such unsleeping ghosts as Welsh, Irish, and Scottish nationalism and cultural identity. These work in in exact opposition to pan-European identity mandated in Brussels, however welcome they may be to EU divide-and-conquer Brexit strategy. That's very much a "be careful what you wish for" situation and it won't be settled soon.
