I take issue with the word “access.”
Nobody’s prohibiting the “poor” from getting “access” to nutritious food options.
Are there armed guards at the supermarket door telling them they can’t come in and buy healthy food with their SNAP cards?
They shop in the same grocery stores as non-SNAP customers. In fact, SNAP & WIC enable MORE “access” to healthy food.
An encyclopedic education about healthier choices is no further away than their smart phones.
The operative word here isn’t “access,” it’s “choice.”

That was my first thought when I read the part about nutritious diet. I know very well-off people who refuse to exercise superior choice in that area.
