Doug Collins Has Spoken to 'Many' Dems Who Are Concerned About Impeachment Process

The Democrats unveiled their articles of impeachment against President Trump on Tuesday. Their two charges: abuse of power, accusing Trump of trying to solicit help from Ukraine to help his 2020 re-election efforts, and obstruction of Congress after refusing to cooperate with their investigation.

Trump's abuse of his power, according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, "left them no choice." If they didn't act, they would be "complicit" in his presidential overreach.

"Unlike President Trump," Schiff said, "we understand that our duty is first and foremost to defend the Constitution."

Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer asked House Judiciary Committee ranking member Doug Collins (R-GA) for his immediate response, noting that despite their efforts, it doesn't look like Republicans can stop the Democratic-led impeachment.

"We've never thought we could stop this train Bill," Collins agreed. "They've been on this train since November 2016. They just had to find the motive, the means, and the opportunity."

Did search and this didn't pop up so.....

And the hard over anti-Trump democommie leadership doesn't care one whit what Collins and his friends think. They may be sorry for what they asked for.

I dont believe there will be a vote..I think this is Pelosi saying to her whack job base “See I did something now leave me the hell alone” did you look at the faces of those commies this morning during their press conference..they looked worse than the Heavens Gate Cult members about to meet the Hail Bop Comet..what happened to Bribery, what happened to Quid Pro Quo, that is all we heard about for MONTHS, how about extortion, out the window too..so instead they come out with the most pathetic, most weak charges Ive ever seen in my life

“Unlike President Trump,” Schiff said, “we understand that our duty is first and foremost to defend the Constitution.”

Oh, For Pete’s Sake! Why doesn’t this TOAD burst into FLAMES when he LIES like that?

Dems use our Constitution as toilet paper every day! With this impeachment BS, they’ve doubled down and upgraded to two-ply!

I no longer have the words to express how much I loathe them! *SPIT*

Trump’s 2020 VICTORY is going to be all the sweeter!

They may be sorry for what they asked for.

Very few Republicans in Congress with a pair. They should be shutting down the House since it completely ignoring their own rule which allows the minority party an opportunity to call their own witnesses.

Time and time again, we see Republicans cave; sometimes when we even have the majority. But then a new day dawns, and nothing comes of it. There are too many names to mention that do great job when in committee and the camera is on them, but that's exactly where it stops.

If anyone is going to come out swinging, it will need to be Trump, but the Republicans can't be trusted to have his back.

“I dont believe there will be a vote.. “

I disagree. For 2 reasons. First, the far left would be further enraged if there was no vote. The Dems have just taken it too far to stop now. Second, with a compliant media, the Dems can do virtually anything, say virtually anything, and the media will cover it as if it was heroic, patriotic.

Only those with the most ardent case of TDS can remotely agree with this nonsense....

Trump will be sitting pretty with a house that doesn’t have Ryan killing and wasting time come Jan 2021.

Seriously, contempt of Congress is impeachable? Can you impeach a President after he is out of office?

Why in the world would he do that? Let them vote for impeachment. Encourage them. Call them out in public and in every single interview you do and tell the world that they are cowards if they don’t vote for impeachment. Tell the world that the only reason they’re worried is that they want to get re-elected and are pandering for votes. Nothing more.

Why in the world would anyone give them a lick of attention or support in voting against their party’s leadership? It’s like clowns like Erik Erickson who, because he’s probably the smartest election lawyer and human in the hemisphere(just ask him, he’ll tell ya), bloviate about all the things the Dem’s do wrong and how they can fix them. Let them commit political suicide.

My first question to Collins....Of the ‘many’ Dems that you’ve spoken to, how many voted to initiate this farce, in the first place?

There were probably also some German soldiers “concerned” about the final solution.

Impeachment was baked in from the night Trump won the election.

No use crying over spilt milk. Let’s get this circus over with and go to the Senate.

If the Dems were SO sure of themselves they would have added bribery, extortion, and quid pro quo to the mix..but they did NOT because of this..just breaking.. https://time.com/5746417/ukraine-andriy-yermak-impeachment-interview/ Kevin McCarthy ‏Verified account @GOPLeader 7m7 minutes ago NEW → Top Ukraine official: "We did not have the feeling that this aid was connected to any one specific issue." Democrats never had a real case, and now it's collapsing entirely.

Their two charges: abuse of power, accusing Trump of trying to solicit help from Ukraine to help his 2020 re-election efforts, and obstruction of Congress after refusing to cooperate with their investigation.

Are the Democrats really going to go ahead with such obvious and phony charges? The Democrats violate the Constitution and then cite their responsibility to defend the document they just violated themselves?

And then they attack the President because he did respond to their ridiculous demand that he say "uncle" when they demand for him to say uncle?

The Democrats are an embarrassment to all people, both Democrat and Republican, who love this country and can see through this sickening and costly hysteria. Are there any Democrats not obsessed with hatred for us and who really care about this country?

The do-nothing Democrats are wasting time and money while ignoring our great economy and the legislation needed to keep America great.

Democrats would have added an article accusing Trump of winning the election for good measure.

That’s their real complaint. All the rest is window dressing.

“..but they did NOT because of this..just breaking.. “

They don’t care. Their contention is that President Trump implied pressure for his own gain. It’s absolute insanity.

Facts don’t matter.

Even Collins recognizes that this all started the day after in 2016.

Only dimwads can impeach a Republican President after he is out of office..even 20 years after he is dead.
Its all spelled out in the 31 1/2 Amendment.

I dont believe there will be a vote.

This is the way I see it going down.

If Pelousy (spit) garners enough votes to pass impeachment, the vote will happen.

If she cannot whip enough from the up for re-election crowd, then there will not be one.

Their case for impeachment boils down to their interpretation of a brief snippet of the July 25 conversation--that Trump's primary motive in encouraging Ukraine to battle corruption was to get dirt on Joe Biden--and that this was such an egregious abuse of power that Trump should be removed from office for it. They are assuming that Trump expected Biden to be the nominee and that he feared Biden as an opponent. All the other motives Trump might have had are completely dismissed.

The Democrats will probably go through with this and vote for impeachment, thinking that in 2020 they can keep telling voters that Trump was impeached for abuse of power and therefore should be voted out of office. I don't think the public is stupid enough to be convinced by that argument, whether the Democrat nominee is Hillary, Bernie, Mayor Pete, or someone else.
