This article nails it. I had occasion to be on Quantico several times in the 80s. There were several Saudi officers there going through various types of training. I remember how they refused to salute female officers but would flip through the TV channels bypassing everything to stop on MTV or 20-minute workout or anything that had scantily clad women. I’m certain they all had porn collections.
Jeez, in four years of military college (Standing beside more current Generals and Col.s than I ever imagined), I was call just about every horrifying name a fat sweaty 17 year old could be called.
I wasn’t fat and sweaty for long.
And it toughen me up for senior management meetings later in life. Our CFO was more sarcastic and caustic than any of those guys.
My son’s nickname for 4 years in the Navy was BUNDY as in Al Bundy’s Married With Children.
It's wildly inappropriate for our country to bring Saudis here for military training. They're not trustworthy, hate us, and do not understand a culture that differs from their own.
That’s a good point. Hazing is so common that it must have some kind of redeeming utility, and what you mentioned could easily be part of that.

I’m not sure that’s always a bad thing, especially if everyone is armed. Remember Heinlein’s “An armed society is a polite society.”
Where these people get it wrong is taking their anger out on individuals not responsible for it and doing so by cowardly assassination. A proper, civilized response is to call out the offender, either to a fistfight or a proper duel with weapons.

I lived around some middle easterners in college. They generally have really bad, arrogant attitudes and less than zero sense of humor.
If we are going to teach them anything at all about defense, which I think is a horrible idea, we do it over there. The more of these a$$hole creeps, who almost uniformly hate us, we can keep out of our country, the better off we will be. Send ALL the ba$t@rds home . . . NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
