Why is Adam Schiff sniffing around the phone records of reporters and congressmen?
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/05/2019

Posted on 12/05/2019 8:00:18 PM PST by Kevin in California

Adam Schiff owes the public some answers.

The House Intelligence Committee chairman should explain why and under what authority he obtained and then publicized phone records that included calls involving the president's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, ranking Intelligence Committee Republican Devin Nunes, journalist John Solomon, and others. It is far from clear when, or even whether, House subpoena powers extend so far without a court-ordered search warrant.

The California Democrat has used the records to hint at attempts by the Trump team and by Nunes, Schiff’s bitter rival, to coordinate a pressure campaign against Ukraine for Trump’s personal benefit. Solomon, meanwhile, was the conduit for much of the reporting, some of it from dubious sources, that Trump’s defenders have cited as the reason Trump wanted certain Ukrainian actions investigated.

The exact scope of congressional subpoena power is a legal gray area, frequently fought over in the courts without clear resolution. In Schiff’s favor, Congress arguably deserves more latitude amid impeachment proceedings. And as Giuliani and his associate Lev Parnas are both reportedly under investigation by divisions of the Justice Department, it is possible, if one stretches the imagination, that Schiff was somehow just piggybacking on those investigations to secure their phone logs.

So I guess the answer to this would be, request his phone records.

Laura Ingraham just had on her show that the NSA was involved with providing schiff the phone records.

It’s called, ‘abuse of power’.

Democrats are 100 times more guilty of abuse of power than republicans.

Schiff and Nadler and Pelosi, and especially Obama, are the guiltiest parties.

That would seem to imply that they may also have the conversations.

Because he KNOWS he is also up to his eyeballs in the laundering of taxpayer dollars in Ukraine AND he needs to know how much these people know about his corruption!!! I see money in aid going to Ukraine THEN Ukraine turns around gives a lot of the money back to the corrupt politicians in off shore bank accounts!! Biden is just the tip of the iceberg!!!!

Yes he is corrupt. Yes he owes an explanation. But until someone commits journalism it won’t happen.

I don’t know about that, I guess it is possible. But what Laura seemed to be saying is that the request went through AT&T and the NSA. schiff had the phone numbers and had the NSA provide the name of the owner of the phones.

My guess is that he can and may use the list to question the parties owning those numbers,

The result might uncover something he could blow out of proportion to make the resident’s men look bad.

But even if he does not gain any information, he will scare a lot of people enough that they will not go near the president or his men.

Same ol same ol....put stumbling blocks in the president’s way so he can not govern.

My question is not why, it is how? What lawful process allows him to go after records of the attorneys for the accused President? NSA may be how, but what law? What court? There are three coequal branches of government, so what law? If there is one, then President Trump must call on the NSA to provide all Democratic Congressmen’s phone records.

We all know why. The question should be “how?”
Using connections that John Brennan still has at the CIA?
Some buddies of James Clapper’s? Friends of Samantha Power?

Yes. Pelosi’s son is the same kind of scam as Biden’s crack baby.

So what happened to attorney client privilege? Generally takes extraordinary circumstances to legally tap an attorney’s calls with a client.

Haven’t we already seen this movie? Liberals are so convinced that they are morally superior because their goals are so pure that the ends justify the means. So if they get their IC friends to pull strings with ATT for phone records of their opponents they feel perfectly justified to do so and then blatantly publicize it in an attempt to suggest illegal or unethical behavior or to simply smear their opponents is perfectly justified.

That’s a valid point, but nothing here suggests that anyone was “tapped.” A call log showing the caller, the recipient of the call, and the duration of the call is not really confidential in any way.

One thing I found interesting was that everyone made a big deal about Nunes calling Lev Parnas, but one call lasted 2 seconds and the other one registered a duration of 0:00. Sure sounds like they were hatching a major conspiracy. /sarcasm off/

This may prove nicely to a lot of Marriages.

Mueller blew attorney/client privilege out of the water, when he invaded Michael Cohen’s house and files.

I still have not gotten over that.

I despise Mueller for that and we should all remember what a virtual rape he did to one of our protections in the Constitution.
