Next week Americans will finally get their most complete accounting to date of what the FBI did right and wrong in the Russia collusion investigation that probed President Trumps campaign with a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant at the end of the 2016 election.
Predicted to span more than 500 pages and 100 witness interviews, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitzs report Monday will provide a comprehensive catalog of what offenses, mistakes and oversights the FBI committed during one of the most politically polarizing investigations in recent history.
As such, it will serve as a non-partisan roadmap for a much longer process of holding the investigators to account, a process that now includes a criminal probe being led by U.S. Attorney John Durham and investigative hearings by Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Lindsey Graham.
In the evitable political bitterness that grips Washington, each political party will seek to score points by cherry-picking their favorite Horowitz findings. But there is a far weightier question than electoral politics to be resolved: Can the FBI be trusted going forward to adequately, fairly and honestly protect civil liberties of Americans while conducting counterintelligence, counterterrorism and criminal investigations.
With that bigger question in mind, here are the 10 revelations I believe will be most important in the Horowitz report.
The scope of failure and misconduct
Were there isolated mistakes, systemic cultural and procedural failures or intentional acts involved in the investigation, the pursuit of the FISA warrant against ex-Trump adviser Carter Page and the renewal of the FISA warrant for more than a year? I expect the Horowitz report to identify between six and 12 failures, mistakes and acts of misconduct. These will range from the serious offense of altering a government document ..

I’m expecting a big nothingburger.
Oh I have been told I was wayyyy too pessimistic and a troll to say such a thing! Everyone will be identified and go to jail soon as per the plan! Not to worry!
Wray is still the FBI Dir stopping everything there and on the payroll as an SES member!
After watching the Whitewater hearings, the voluminous investigations into the Clinton’s criminality, and then other investigations since, I have developed this view of the standard accomplishments of these events.
01: Nobody is found to have done anything worthy of being charged, even though a normal citizen being found to have done the same thing, would have the book thrown them.
02: Stall any real open investigation for the duration, and quell any call for action immediately.
03: Downgrade the infractions to the point of absurdity, and allow clear-cut wrongdoing to go unpunished.
04: Kill the average citizen’s faith in the federal government and law and order in general.
05: Confirm the worst fears of the public, that a two or more tier justice system is not only a reality, but flourishing, rampant, and utterly flooding across our whole legal system.
06: Loss in the good faith trust in the sanctity of our complete political and justice system.

Nope
I no longer have faith in them
I have come to believe that your number 6 is the goal.

I think the overall goal is to feed themselves tens of millions of dollars in perks.
They want control, so they can abuse the system to the full extent possible.

Youre probably right. But what happens after number 6? What happens when a large enough percentage of the population finally gets it and sees theyre all being played for suckers?
Things will get ugly.

That’s because the working class is busy working.
Once that class has been decimated, can no longer create wealth and has to fight just to remain alive, you’ll see open rebellion.
If Horowitz, screws this up by being weak, too cautious, or just plain cowardly, America we have a very big problem - our guardians are useless cowards at the least and deliberate cowards and political hacks at the most.
As Barr himself has stated: there is a more important person to watch and that is Durham. He is the one that can make a difference and help to bring justice to the coup plotters.
With cheese.
Tried reading at his new site but the font and color scheme cause eyestrain.
this will be another Swamp Cover-up by Whoreowitz, the 0bama cover-up artist.
Negative thinkers are always right........... or pleasantly surprised.
How about Barr himself, doesn't Durham work for him and of course the ultimate boss of all of them should pay attention as well. Those @ss hats on FOX this morning calling for Nancy to declassify something, how about the President deciding to play offense?
