I think the article is actually correct in the sense that “neoliberalism”, if defined as the “free trade” globalist economics that have dominated the past 3 decades, has worn out its welcome and been rejected by the voters. Trump turned us towards a populist nationalism. The writers would turn us toward socialism. But either way, the old ways are D-E-A-D.
Nobody over the age of 25 thinks that communism/socialism works.
The liberals in our country talk about it in the hopes that they will look like they actually care about the poor. They don’t.
