Due to a pension sweetener available only to veteran Illinois lawmakers, Cullerton’s annual pension will soon be more than he ever made from his Statehouse salary.
Illinois’ second-longest serving lawmaker announced Nov. 14 that he will retire in January 2020.
But the departure of Senate President John Cullerton, D-Chicago, highlights one example of how pension sweeteners Illinois lawmakers passed decades ago are putting taxpayers on the hook for extravagant benefits today.
Cullerton is set to receive more than $2 million in state pension payments over the course of his retirement, should he live to age 85. He will take home nearly $4.2 million if he lives to age 95, which is $1.3 million more than he would have received without the special sweetener.

Dems in Illinois don’t care if it is $10 Million. Someone else will pay - the Rich, businesses, the State lottery, etc. Even with all of the on-going political scandals, the people in Illinois voted in more Dems in 2018 over Republicans and gave more power to the crooks.
Here’s the phrase that’s used to stop the public from zeroing in on these people.
” They all do it!”
And there’s just enough Republicans that do to give the statement credibility and shield the Rats. (Who almost 100% do it to a man & woman!) What Duncan Hunter did protects 10 Rats!
Term limits for all public offices! 10 consecutive years is enough! Go home for awhile before you get another chance at the public trough.

My god how disgusting. America needs a purge.
I lived in the Cullerton family’s Ward (38th) . His family was big in Chicago politics seemingly forever. They did get the garbage picked up and trees planted and Democrats elected and re-elected It was the Daley way. Chicago has always been Chicago and also mothers milk to the Communist Party.
There is NO excuse for a public pension of that size.
Soon they’ll be taxing the money you get from garage sales. Not kidding.
