Wealthy Liberals REFUSE to go along with Green New Deal and are Trying to Kill the Planet.
$30K buys a BIG generator. Even allowing for electrical installation and propane tank costs.
Well, you know how it works with those people. “Do as I say, NOT as I do”.
You can get cheaper generators.
What might be a fix for the problem is to END laws which get in the way of being able to clear brushwood away from power lines.
My favorite, John Denver installed a 3k gallon gas tank on his Colorado property during the gas crisis in the 70’s.
Under those circumstances the power youre consuming actually has higher carbon intensity and pollution than the good as a whole.
During a blackout, the “good as a whole” are producing no carbon or pollution at all. Tough to beat that. Of course, their risk to life and limb is much higher, and they’re much less productive and much more miserable, but we’re not worried about that.
Put power lines under ground?
How well does Michael B. know Epstein and G. Maxwell?
Will a certain news organization cover or cover-up the topic?
I was just thinking you could probably get a whole house generator INSTALLED for a third of that.
A portable generator to run the fridge and some lights would be even cheaper.
My father in law just dropped $6,000 on a whole house with transfer switch for their small home up in El Dorado County.
L
Californians using propane or diesel to generate electricty? Don’t they know that’s bad for all living things?
Oh, the humanity!
Not going to work
California simply does not have the fuel distribution system to power all but a few generators for wealthy people
Californians are getting what they asked for with their high minded virtue signaling and green posturing. They are in a trap of their own making
You nailed It,
Clear the Brush!
.
Damn Treehuggers.
Propane, you say? Wait til they find out where that comes from!
I’ve never been able to see the warranty from a popular home generator. Most of those are for short term use. I’ve heard that long term use invalidates the warranty.
For long term use you need an 1800 rpm rated for prime use rather than emergency use only. Those are more expensive.
The upside is you can run them 24/7 until the oil change interval ends and a oil change is required.
Bloomberg is angry that people are spending their own money instead of letting the government do it for them...................
If I were a semi-smart landlord*, I’d set up a large power generating system at my apartment complex and sell the power to the tenants, at a price somewhere between the cost of providing that service and what it would take for the tenants to do it themselves, if they even could.
*semi-smart in the sense that any landlord left in California is not very bright in staying there.
We had a bunch of tow-able generators, up to 200KW in preparation for a Florida Hurricane. The hurricane never struck and we where stuck with them. Rolling blackouts started and Semis showed up to take them all away. LOL
